particular destination and the corresponding revenue generated. The manager should also
be able to view the average waiting period for different consignments. This statistic is
important for him since he normally orders new trucks when the average waiting period
for consignments becomes high due to non-availability of trucks. Also, the manager would
like to see the average idle time of the truck in the branch for a given period for future
planning.

request the blood from the blood bank when they need. For this the blood bank keeps the
name of the patient, a blood group which is needed, city in which the blood needed, name
of the hospital where the blood will be sent, address of the hospital, name of the
doctor who demands for blood, date and time when the blood will be required,
contact name, contact email id, contact phone number, address, city, state of the person
who needs the blood in their MIS.
The MIS of electronic based blood donors (e-blood donors) keeps the name of the donor
who is donating blood, a unique id through which the donor can view his account,
password for accessing the account, date of birth of the donor, gender status of the donor,
blood group of the donor, weight of the donor, photo, mobile no, email id, address, city,
state, date of last blood donation when a new blood donor registered himself as a blood
donor. In the system a user clicks on the link Post your requirement on the homepage
and provides personal details like patients name, age, gender, hospital name, reason for
requirement, required before date, IP no, hospital area, mobile number, country name, city
name and the blood group name. Once done via the Post your requirement link, the user
can send their request which will be saved in the system and an SMS is automatically sent
to the donors registered with Ebloddonors.org in that locality. Registered donors will call
those in need of blood. The system does not provide statistics on blood availability within
blood banks, registered donors per area and does not link between hospitals and blood
banks.
12. Vehicle Parking System
The maintenance company has faced problems in maintaining records of vehicles parked
in its country club carpark. As there are frequent complaints that members could not find
empty slots during weekends, the company had performed a survey and found that many
slots were occupied by non-members car during weekend. It has greatly affected the
members confidence on the company as well as it poses a threat to the security of the
club.
Therefore, an intelligent vehicle parking system to overcome the present inefficient and
time consuming process is needed.
The system is divided into 2 main subsystems namely the carpark security system and
carpark management system.
Prior to entry into the carpark, a list of available empty slots at each level is displayed and
it also displays the total number of available slots. The carpark security system will then
verify the user's identity by getting the data from a swap card reader when the user
swapped his ID card through. The members can then proceed to their desired carpark slot.
Therefore, if there is no empty slot, the system will output a message to inform the user.
On the whole, the system prevents non-member from using the carpark thus creating more
empty slots for the members.
The carpark management system allows the viewing of daily parking records conveniently
as well as generating reports upon request. It can track down past records of any suspects
car parked in the carpark if investigation will to be done by the police. In addition, updating
of registered member's personal data and the system users details is also provided. But

only an authorized system user like the manager or supervisor or system administrator can
change the user access status. However, the changing of password can be done by any
system user individually (for him only). Authorized system user like the supervisor can
also access the utilities option to do some system housekeeping like purging of old records
and resetting void card numbers that is produced due to the losses of the card. The rest of
the functions are accessible by the normal system user.
13. Tour Reservation System
Previously people wishing to visit place had to manually search for available
accommodation at the visiting places. Also they themselves had to make a reservation.
People hardly had any knowledge of which are worth seeing places and about its history.
Such procedure was time consuming and energy wasting. Tour Reservation System has
made life very easy for such visitors by saving both their time and energy. Visitor requests
for scheme to check the availability of the desired tour package. This information is stored
in Tour Reservation System. System will check whether the customer is existing or new.
New user will enter his personal and tour details for reservation. In turn he/she will be
provided with system generated unique ID and password. This login information could be
used for further transactions. When customer is satisfied with tour package he/she would
request for reservation of tour. Personal details of new customer and the details regarding
the tour selected by particular customer is stored and the details regarding it would be
restructured in Tour Reservation System.
Existing customer can update his/her personal details and cancel reservation for tour from
and changes regarding it are also reflected in Tour Reservation System. After confirming
the tour package, the customer will make payment either online or through staff by
personally going at the office. Customer can make payment by cash, credit card or by
cheque. System checks for the validity of staff. Once the payment is done by customer,
valid staff will make Ticket Reservation System.
Reserved customer will be able to view details about reservation by providing login
information from Tour Information System. Administrator can add, delete or modify tour
schemes from Tour Reservation System.
14. Online Auction System
In the past few years, the electronic marketplace has witnessed an exponential growth in
worth, size, and usability. Projections indicate that this trend will intensify in the coming
years. Online auctions are a major component of the electronic marketplace that makes
use of electronic commerce mechanisms. With the help of the fast-growing Internet
environment, the products that were previously purchased in a traditional market can now
be obtained conveniently via online auction systems. An online auction system works by
allowing users to register at the site to sell and/or buy products. A participant must be
registered at the site to partake. When a Seller decides to sell a product, he logs-in and sets
up an auction by specifying the product details, the minimum bid amount, the duration of
the auction, etc. A Purchaser logs-in and participates in an auction by placing bids for a

chosen product and has the chance to bid again during the time the auction is active. The
bidding ends when the auction time expires and the highest bidder is the one who has
successfully made a purchase. Purchasers participate in existing auction systems knowing
only the product description/price while the Seller provides the detailed product
description. Since the Purchaser participates in an auction without accurate information
about the products, it is difficult for him to cope with rapid changes to the auction systems
environment. At the same time, it is necessary for one to implement a Web based auction
system with the capability to cope with rapid bidding and changes in the price of products,
the system processing speed, etc., while, at the same time being maintainable and reusable.
15. Online Grocery System
A vegetable/grocery vendor wants to automate his food and grocery store. It has over
10,000 products ranging from fresh Fruits and Vegetables, Staples, Spices and Seasonings
to Beverages, Personal care products, Meats and much more. At present the customers
give a list of items over phone and tell their convenient time to receive the items at their
home. There are four slots per day for the delivery. Internally the products are picked,
hygienically packed and it is delivered right to the customers doorstep, anywhere within
the city in the time slot selected by the customer. Payment options include cash on delivery
or food coupons. The vendor has tie-ups with manufacturers, wholesalers and importers
and the merchandising teamwork on a combination of post order procurement and in house
stocking. The service has to be unique by letting the customers shop for daily essentials
from the comfort of their homes, saving them time, effort and money.
There are two operating modes. First one is Just-In-Time mode. This means that not just
perishables but everything they bring against an order. So they consolidate orders for the
day, go and buy the products and deliver the details of which has to be updated in the
system. When they reach a particular volume, they move from the just-in-time mode to
what is called the warehouse stocking mode. The vendor buys products directly from
farmers and mills and stock the products in the warehouse. They stock a certain number
of days of sales, depending on the product and sales. The details of all the customers,
manufacturers, farmers and the employees have to be saved for future reference The
software should allow the manager to set initial inventory levels and then decide what the
re-ordering levels are. So it is all completely automated.
The wholesalers deliver goods to vendors warehouses and his delivery vans then deliver
these goods to the consumers. The software should have a provision to keep the details of
the vans the vendor owns. Perishables are only warehoused for a matter of hours, and in
some cases its 24 hours from farm to fridge. The grocery store must be able to track
everything from the time an order is placed to delivery. The software should be able to
handle all movement of trucks and delivery vehicles, notification to customers on
estimated delivery times, etc.
