PROBLEM DESCRIPTION

A PA Temperature alarm would appear on a V3 BTS sector on DTRUs (TRXs) after the site is
exposed to very high temperatures when fans are faulty. After replacing the fans and all associated
equipment eg DTRUs the alarm does not disappear on the system hence the need to reconfigure the
TRXs.
The Alarm would appear on sectors 2 and 3.

PROBLEM SYMPTOMS

i.

No Traffic PS or CS.

REMEDY CONDITIONS

CELLS WOULD NOT GIVE A SIGNAL WITH PA TEMPERATURE ALARM SHOWING ON EMS.

Check for visible board Alarms on BSC for corresponding site.

Confirm affected DTRUs.
Replace fans and affected DTRUs.
If alarm is still showing delete and reconfigure DTRUs on EMS.

1. Open the Rackchart of the BSC on Minos to confirm board position.

i. Go to Fault Management and click on NE TREE

ii. Select and expand BSC to select the site or type the site id and press Enter.
iii. Click on the site and view the alarm in the Alarm Pane otherwise right click and select
Open Rackchart to view the affected TRXs which will be flashing to signal an alarm.

2. Click on Configuration to select NE Management to go to Configuration Management.

i. Right click on the BSC and start NE Management.

ii. Right click and select configuration management.

iii. Right click on Configuration Management and select Export Quick Configuration Data.

iv. Choose the destination you want to save the data by clicking on browse and select Gsm
Cell Configuration, click on the checkbox select all and click execute.

v. Open the saved excel file, open the index sheet and click on GTrx to select the GTrx
sheet.

vi. Filter the required site and edit the sheet in the Modify Area column by inputing Ds for
DELETE and save.
vii. Import the edited excel sheet.

Viii. Import the edited excel sheet but dont attempt to synchronise

3. Delete Rackchart information about the DTRUs.

i. Click on Modify Area and view the pane that appears after clicking
ii. Expand Site Information configuration and Site equipment.

iii. Select site then click on the Rack Icon to view the rack chart.

iv. Delete the corresponding DTRUs then sychronise.

4. Reconfigure the deleted TRXs.

i. Open the Delete excel sheet and replace D with A for Add.

ii.

Go to the rackchart and add the DTRUs, right click on the empty pane and click Create
panel to create the instance of the TRX.

iii.

Sychronise the data.

Method of Procedure to Reconfigure the TRXs

Backup existing configurations for site.

Check for existing Alarms and save.

Reconfigure the TRXs.

Check for new alarms and fix them.

5.

Check performance data and Monitor the site.

CAUSE

High temperatures on site.

Faulty Fan modules on Bts.

RECOMMENDATION

Engineers to do routine checks on Air Conditioner and Fan modules of BTS equipment and fix any
issues with the equipement.
