Service Pack overview

Service Pack overview

EMC is dedicated to providing a solid support strategy for its customers by ensuring they
have the most up-to-date fixes and enhancements. Enginuity Service Packs are a key part
of this strategy as they provide important supplementary information for each Service
Release.
Each Enginuity Service Pack also contains the latest Firmware Pack. The Firmware Pack
ReadMe can be downloaded from: https://support.EMC.com. For the release history of the
Firmware Packs, see Table 8 on page 9.
Two Enginuity Service Packs are released per code family: one at the target level and one
at the latest code level, with each pack consisting of a set of highly recommended fixes.
The following information should be noted for each Enginuity Service Pack:

A new Enginuity Service Pack should be treated as a superset of all previously

released packs for that code family; that is, a new pack will contain all previously
released fixes plus any new or modified fixes.

If a fix is removed between Enginuity Service Packs, information will be included on

the fix that has been removed.

If a fix is updated between Enginuity Service Packs, information will be included on

the revision number of the fix.

All fixes released in an Enginuity Service Pack will be integrated into the next Service
Release of the code family.

problem was found during product testing by EMC, the case number contains the
abbreviated product name.

If during a director full initialization

process the directors encounter 80EF.0C
PCIE non-fatal errors, the fabric path
associated to one System Interface Board
(SIB) may be disabled (80DD.00 error)
during the process without notifying the
other directors.
This inconsistency view of SIB path
availability between directors will trigger a
data unavailability event.

Previously, Enginuity sent a Dial Home

further failure would compromise the

This enhancement provides SRDF

Active/Active support between Enginuity
5876.286.194 and HYPERMAX OS
5977.691.684.
The enhancement allows you to use both
sites as the source device (R1) and write to
both sites simultaneously.

Added on 10

When merging SRDF pairs between a

VMAX array and a VMAX3 array during a
device migration, the CLI command may

81589

This fix adds SRDF support between

Enginuity 5876.286.194 and HYPERMAX
OS 5977.691.684.
SRDF links from a VMAX array to a VMAX3
array could bounce (FE3F error) when the
VMAX array writes on the special cylinder
(CE Cyl) which does not exist on the
VMAX3 system. The response to the write
is treated as an error by the Common
Driver Interface (CDI) which returns a
no_data_error.
Errors: 0xE (IOBS_NO_DATA_PHASE_ERR),
FE3F.

This fix improves the maintainability of

SRDF between Enginuity 5876.286.194
and HYPERMAX OS 5977 by enhancing the
inline commands A7,META and
A7,MMAP.
Exposed environment: This enhancement
is primarily relevant for displaying
information about Fixed Block Architecture
(FBA) meta devices.
