STUDENT COUNCIL ELECTIONS

Are you a leader and a team player? Do you want to get more involved in
your school and have your voice heard? Do you want to help plan and
promote all the fun activities and fundraisers St. Matthias School has to
offer? If you answered yes to any of these questions, please consider being
a member of Student Council this year!
Student Council elections will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2016. If
you are considering running for the council, please fill out and return the
form with your signature and a parent/guardian signature below to Ms. Nolan
by Tuesday, September 13, 2016. (Late forms will not be accepted.)
To learn about the responsibilities and requirements for each Student Council
position, please see the back of this form.

Please be prepared to give a short speech to your fellow middle
school students about why you are running for this position and
what you hope to achieve as a member of Student Council.
Speeches will be held on Wednesday morning, followed by elections.

STUDENT COUNCIL ELECTIONS


Student Council Officer Positions and Roles
President:
Lead all meetings
Give assistance, guidance, and praise
Act as a facilitator during discussion
Maintain frequent contact with faculty and administration
Work with advisor on all planning
Participate in student council sponsored activities/events
Note: You must have previous experience on student council to be
eligible for this position.
Vice

President:
Assume Presidents duties when needed
Work with President and Treasurer in preparing calendar and budget
Assist the President in preparing meeting agendas
Help maintain student council website
Communicate with lower school liaison about upcoming events

Treasurer:
Oversee council expenses and revenues
Maintain an accurate and detailed financial record
Give monetary advice to the council
Work with President and Vice President in preparing calendar and
budget
Recording Secretary:
Keep an account of minutes at every meeting
Keep an accurate account of attendance at every meeting
Maintain contact information for people who work with the council
Write Thank You cards on behalf of council and school
Homeroom Representative (1 position per homeroom):
Keep student body informed of events, fundraisers, and service
projects
Collect information and ideas from homeroom to share with council
