In the story Coyote and the Buffalo, Coyote is not an


admirable character. He is not admirable because he
kicked Buffalo Bulls skull. At the beginning of the story,
Coyote, picked up [Buffalo Bulls] skull and threw it
into the air; he kicked it and spat on it; he threw dust in
the eye sockets (40). Coyote can also be seen as
stubborn and greedy, because he ate the entire cow
instead of saving it for later use. The text states that,
after awhile he became tired of eating fat, and he
began to long for the sweet marrow-bones and the
other good parts of the buffalo (41-2). Lastly, the
Coyote is foolish for trusting the old woman who stole
the bones. The old woman says to Coyote, Why should
you do womans work? Let me cook the bones while
you rest (42). Now that the bones are gone, Coyote is
left with absolutely no food. At the end of the story,
