FUNCTION
This function dispatches equally the available frequencies (multi-channels) of one base station between all its
parented subscribers.
Note : the parenting functions do not dispatch the channels according to the number of parented subscribers.
After a parenting and in case of multi-channels, it is necessary to rerun the dispatch function.
This function will adjust the power of each parented subscriber in order to obtain a received power at the base
station equal to the Carrier value (dBm).
This function assigns the Tx and Rx (inverted mode) of the base station on each parented subscriber.
Example:
Base Station
Tx cx1=450 Rx cx1=550
Tx cx2=451 Rx cx2=551
The following assignment is done on the parented subscribers:
Tx cx1=550 Rx cx1=450
Tx cx2=551 Rx cx2=451

New option : Connecting to best server - interference. This option connects the subscribers to the best
server stations defined according to the interference results. Each station is declared wanted and unwanted.
The system calculates the C/sum(I) for each connection station to subscriber, with C= power received from
the wanted station, and sum(I) = sum of powers received from the unwanted stations - IRF. The best server
station is the one that obtains the maximum C/sum(I), i.e. that meets less interference.
New options : Connecting to best server - control bit rate and Connecting to nearest best server - control bit
rate. These options connect the subscribers to the best server stations taking into account their bit rate capacity.
The base stations have to be parametered in terms of bit rates (M/bits).
New options : Connecting to best server - control lines and Connecting to nearest best server - control lines.
These options connect the subscribers to the amount of the number of available lines of the each base station.
A subscriber uses the number of lines that has been defined in the Lines field of the Subscriber parameters
box.
New options : Connecting to best server - control grade of service and Connecting to nearest best server control grade of service : these options connect the subscribers to the amount of the defined threshold (grade
of service). The required parameters are : the number of lines of the base stations and the subscriber Erlang
value. Two Erlang formula are offered : Erlang B or Erlang C. The user enters the required grade of service
threshold.
The orphan only option allows to parent either all the subscribers (box unchecked), or only the orphan

New option : Receiver coverage : calculates the power receiving capacity of all stations that are selected in
the base - receiving coverage in dBW
New option : Tx/Rx variable height coverage : calculates the coverage of each station that has been selected
in the base, and for different antenna height - coverage in metres.
New option : Tx composite coverage + C/I (station color)
This option calculates (as the Tx composite coverage + C/I option does) the composite coverage + the
protection ratio (according to the unwanted reference frequency) of the selected stations. The results are of
type: colour of the station that has at each point the weakest field strength to be protected.
Ex : For a threshold of 54 dBV/m
Station A (100 MHz) = 56 dBV/m
Station B (100.1 MHz) = 70 dBV/m
Station C (100.2 MHz) = 60 dBV/m
unwanted frequency = 100 MHz
The field strength emanating from each station is modified as follows:
a) C/I between 100 MHz and 100 MHz station A = 36
b) C/I between 100 MHz and 100.1 MHz station B = 12
c) C/I between 100 MHz and 100.2 MHz station C = 6
the coverage of station A is displayed for a threshold of 54-36 = 18
the coverage of station B is displayed for a threshold of 54-12 = 42
the coverage of station C is displayed for a threshold of 54-6 = 48
For each P point of the terrain, the field strength kept is MIN(FsA, FsB, FsC)
In the "station color" option, the display of the map is of station colour type that gives MIN(FsA, FsB, FsC).
New option : Threshold interference level (field strength) : calculates the acceptable field at the Frequency
reference in the coverage area of the selected stations. Displays the global coverage of the selected station
reduced of the defined C/I according to the Frequency reference that is considered unwanted.
C/I button: Opens the Protection ratio box for the choice of the C/I ratios to be taken into account in the Tx
composite coverage + C/I (field strength et station color) and Threshold interference level (field strength)
calculations.
Threshold : the default threshold is the one defined by the FSR tool - to modify it, click on the 3 points
button.
New Frontier function allowing to calculate for the selection (stations with associated coverage), the
maximum field strength at n km of the frontier, or found between n0 and n1 km inside or outside the frontiers.
Note : This function, and the Map / Filter / Frontier functions, use the .FTR files containing the internal and
external frontiers distance in one single file of 16 bits .ic2 format.
1- In the Station database box, select the stations that have an associated coverage and that have to be taken
into account in the calculation
2- Click on Frontier button
3- The Frontier box is opened
click here to view the image
- Frontier file : designate the .FTR (IC2 format) file containing the internal and external frontiers distances for
each country.
- Country code file : designate the .COD (IC1 format) file containing at each point a country code and
allowing the maximum field strength calculation for each country.
- If needed, modify the threshold by clicking on the 3 points of the Threshold field.
- Select or de-select the inside frontier mode. In mode selected, the calculation will be done inside the
frontiers.
- Enter the minimum and the maximum distance to the frontier in km
Run the calculation via Ok (or cancel it via Cancel).
4- The calculation is performed. The results are displayed in a Report box and indicate for each selected
station, the maximum field strength in dBV/m, the distance to the frontiers in metres, the azimuth, the
effective height H1 according to Wien and the effective height H1 according to Geneva and the country code.
New option Population : allows to calculate site by site the covered population for the selected stations.
1- Select in the database the stations that have an associated coverage and that will be treated
2- Click on Population button
3- In the input box, enter the field strength threshold
4- The calculation is run for each selected stations
5- The results are displayed in a Report box and indicate the number of people coverage and the corresponding
percentage for each station.
The option Keep previous filter allowing to cumulate the filter results, is inserted in the Station Database
box

All selected stations are the unwanted elements. The system will verify the interference caused by the stations
for some frequencies defined between a min and a max frequency and according to a frequency step, and will
increase all points of the unwanted coverage with the found C/I.
The scripte modifies the coverage with the C/I found, and generates for each interfering frequency a printout
of the coverage overlaid on the terrain.
