Park declared chemical zone near Baroda, Gujarat with a capacity of 600
MT of Aluminium Chloride per annum.

The company was established as Private Limited Co. with a capital

investment of 100 thousand Dollars under the able leadership of Mr. Bipin
Ramani, who is Promoter Director of the company.

With the globalization of Indian Economy, India has emerged as large

specially, fine and commodity chemicals manufacturing Country. Also
export of Aluminium Chloride has grown by 300% in the last ten years.
Looking at the growing demand, Base metal has decided to expand their
capacity and has put up a unit at Lamdapera Village, Manjusar
approximately 20 kms from Baroda with total capacity of 10,000 MTs per
annum. The Company was accredited with ISO 9002 Certificate from M/s,
Quality Certification Bereau, Canada on 13th August, 1999 and ISO 9001 :
2000 on 6th September, 2002 QMI- Canada. The Company has made capital
investment USD two million for established new unit as well as
modernization of unit at Nandesari, where the total capacity is 5000 Mts per
annum.

Aluminium Chloride Hexahydrate

Aluminium Chloride Solutions
Meaning of Aluminium Chloride: Aluminium chloride (AlCl3) is the
main compound of aluminium and chlorine. It is white, but samples are
often contaminated withiron trichloride, giving it a yellow colour. The solid
has a low melting and boiling point. It is mainly produced and consumed in
the production of aluminium metal, but large amounts are also used in other
areas of chemical industry. The compound is often cited as a Lewis acid. It is
an example of an inorganic compound that "cracks" at mild temperature,
reversibly changing from a polymer to amonomer.

Majorly only Aluminium Chloride Anhydrous is exported due to its High

Demand in Global Market. Below is a brief explanation about the product.
ALUMINIUM CHLORIDE ANHYDROUS (ALCL3)
Physical Properties:
Aluminum Chloride Anhydrous is derived from the purified gases Chloride
with high purity molten Aluminium. Chemically pure Aluminium Chloride
Anhydrous is a yellowish white crystal which sublimes at 180C. Only at
pressures above 2.5 atm and temperature above 190C is a liquid state.

Product Specification of Aluminium Chloride Solution:

Chemical Properties:

Aluminium Chloride is anhydrous, non-explosive, and nonflammable but a

Corrosive solid. It releases fumes of hydrochloride acid in contact with
moist air. Any contact with water results in an exothermic reaction, the
violence of which depends on the grade of Aluminium Chloride involved.

About Packing:
25 kgs HDPE Bas with double PVC liner inside on one tonne pallet
shrink wrapped.

In customer's Silo as per customer's requirements.
Also can be packed in tote bin of different volume as per Customer's
requirements.

Safety and Storage:

Aluminum Chloride Anhydrous reacts with water or moisture generating
Heat and hydrochloride acid fumes which irritates the respiratory tract. Thus
all areas where it is stored & handled must be dry and well ventilated. Bulk
handling system must be waterproof and unloaded with dry nitrogen or dry
air system. Storage should be away from automatic sprinkler system and
combustible materials. Direct contact with the skin cases thermal and acid
burns. Safety goggles, rubber shoes, rubber gloves and coveralls made of
acid resistant materials should be worn while handling the product. Any
contact with the skin or eye should be flushed with large quantities of water
and a physician should be called.
Environmental questions should also be considered while handling
Aluminium Chloride Anhydrous as the fumes exuding from excessive
exposure of the product are environmentally objectionable.
Base Metal Chemicals has provided proper collection system and Scrubbers
to avoid damage to the environment.

Chapter 2
Exports
The term export means shipping the goods and services out of the
jurisdiction of a country. The seller of such goods and services is referred to
as an "exporter" and is based in the country of export whereas the overseas
based buyer is referred to as an "importer". In international trade, "exports"
refers to selling goods and services produced in the home country to other
markets.
Export of commercial quantities of goods normally requires involvement of
the customs authorities in both the country of export and the country of
import. The advent of small trades over the internet such as through Amazon
and eBay has largely bypassed the involvement of Customs in many
countries because of the low individual values of these trades. Nonetheless,
these small exports are still subject to legal restrictions applied by the
country of export. An export's counterpart is an import.

Foreign Trade in INDIA

The import or export of any foreign products in India are regulated under the
Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act. Under this act the Central
government of India can make the provisions for development and also
regulates the foreign trade. Also the Central government can prohibit, restrict
and regulates the export activities. Under this act every importer or exporter
must obtain an Importer Exporter Code number 'IEC' code number from
Director of General of Foreign Trade.

Importance of Exports:

Increasing Sales
Increasing Profits
Reducing risk and balancing growth
Lower unit costs
Economies of scale
Minimising the effect of seasonal fluctuations in sales
Small and/or saturated domestic markets
Overcoming low growth in the home market
Extending the Product life-cycle
Improving efficiency and product quality
Untapped Markets
Addressing customer, competitor and cost factor
Status as an Exporter

Limitations of Exports:
Financial management effort
Customer demand
Communication technologies improvement
Management mistakes

conflicts of interest.

Hyperhidrosis is a common dermatological condition that has a tremendous

impact on the quality of life of affected patients. Aluminum chloride
hexahydrate is considered first-line therapy for patients with mild-tomoderate hyperhidrosis. This treatment has been proven to be effective in
the treatment of hyperhidrosis; however, its use has been limited by
significant irritation. In many patients, the irritant dermatitis is so severe
that, despite clinical efficacy, this therapy must be discontinued. There are
many topical aluminum chloride therapies available. Observations from a
busy hyperhidrosis practice revealed decreased irritation and increased
efficacy with a novel therapy that combines 15% aluminum chloride
hexahydrate with 2% salicylic acid in a gel base. This combination of 15%
aluminum chloride hexahydrate with 2% salicylic acid offers patients who
have failed aluminum chloride hexahydrate in the past excellent efficacy

with minimal irritation. We report seven cases of patients with a history of

severe irritation from aluminum chloride who maintained excellent results
with this new topical without any significant irritation.

J Clin Aesthetic Dermatol (2009)

Hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating beyond physiological needs, is a
common dermatological condition with a prevalence of one percent.
Treatment options include topical aluminum chloride hexahydrate (AC),
iontophoresis, botulinum toxin A, oral anticholinergics, local resection of
sweat glands, and endoscopic sympathectomy. Topical AC is a wellestablished therapy for hyperhidrosis and is first-line therapy for mild-tomoderate disease. The mechanism of action is via aluminum salt blockage of
the distal acrosyringium, which leads to functional and structural
degeneration of the eccrine acini. Although many studies have demonstrated
significant efficacy with topical AC, formulations of AC in an alcohol
solution have been limited by patient tolerance. In one study, up to 26
percent of patients found the associated pain and pruritus unacceptable. In
clinical practice, an even greater percentage of patients discontinue due to
poor tolerability.

Chapter 4
Research Methodology

The determinants used in this study were an adaptation and derived from
existing studies presented in reviewed literature. Also, the literature
reviewed in the previous chapter suggests that the decision-makers positive
attitude toward exporting is a primary determinant of a firm engaging in
export market activity.

Title of Study
Base Metal Chemicals (Export of last 5 years)
Objective of the study

To get knowledge about Chemical Exports.

To study the Process of Export.
To study the growth in exports of Aluminium Chloride Anhydrous.
To study export trends of Base Metal Chemicals

Method of Data Collection

Basically there are 2 types of data collection.

1. Primary Data: Data collected by the investigator himself/ herself for a

specific purpose.
2. Secondary Data: Data collected by someone else for some other purpose
(but being utilized by the investigator for another purpose).
Advantages of Secondary data:
The datas already there- no hassles of data collection
It is less expensive
The investigator is not personally responsible for the quality of data (I
didnt do it)

The report is based on exports of chemicals and export trends of the

company, so the researcher has opted for Secondary Data Collection
Method.

Importance
Regardless of the field of study or preference for defining data
(quantitative or qualitative), accurate data collection is essential to
maintaining the integrity of research. Both the selection of appropriate data
collection instruments (existing, modified, or newly developed) and clearly
delineated

instructions

for

their

correct

use

reduce

the likelihood of errors occurring.

A formal data collection process is necessary as it ensures that data gathered
are both defined and accurate and that subsequent decisions based on
arguments embodied in the findings are valid. The process provides both a

baseline from which to measure and in certain cases a target on what to

improve.

Limitations
Usually quite time consuming to collect information, organize and
analyze it
Represents depth of information rather than breadth

Sectors in which Aluminium Chloride is being Exported

Majorly the Aluminium Chloride is Exported to Europe. 80% of Companies

export goes to Europe due to high demand of Aluminium Chloride
Anhydrous in that Country.
Other Gulf Countries demand only 5% of total export and South America
demands 2% in total while Australia Demands 13% of total export where
Fremantle is a major buyer in Australia

Here we can see that in last four years i.e. from 2010-11 to 2013-14 the
Export is consistently increasing, in last year the export gets a bit low due to
decrease in global demand of Aluminium Chloride Anhydrous.

Chapter 6
Data Analysis & Interpretation
Base Metal Chemicals has the Pioneer in the Export of Aluminium Chloride
Anhydrous. The company is number one in India under manufacturing and
Exporting Aluminium Chloride Anhydrous. The Company exports mostly
through Sea Ways. Approximately 300 Containers are exported on monthly
basis. As exactly 24.5 ton of Aluminium Chloride Anhydrous is being
packed in each container, the company earns up to Rs. 8 lac. of profit per
container.
It has been seen in the above presented charts that in last 5 years of data the
company is making tremendous growth in the global market, but due to fall
in global demand of Aluminium Chloride Anhydrous last year the exports
have gone down. Which taken in mind the company is trying to again
increase their exports this year.
By looking at the exports of last 5 years it can be interpreted that in
upcoming years the export will remain stable with no increase or decrease in
exports in global market. But is it is a chemical there will a rise need of it in
coming future which will help in increase of the companys manufacturing
and exports.

Analysis of Exports of Aluminium Chloride Anhydrous

India exported anhydrous aluminium chloride worth USD 32,316,194 with
total quantity of 64,311,201. Belgium is the largest buyer of anhydrous
aluminium chloride accounting for exports worth USD 16,455,412 followed
by Australia and Russia which imported anhydrous aluminium chloride
worth USD 2,877,460 and USD 2,615,719 respectively.

Mundra accounted for 47% of exports followed by Nhava Sheva Sea and
KLPPL PANKI which account for 24.3% and 13.3% of exports respectively.
Average price of anhydrous aluminium chloride per unit is USD 0.50 and
average value per shipment is 18,530

Chapter 7
Recommendations & Conclusion
As seen and evaluated in the comprehensive project for observing the export
trends of Base Metal Chemicals of last 5 years, it can be said that the export
of aluminium chloride anhydrous was rising consistently for 4 years but in
the year 2014-15 the export declined by 336 matric tonns from last year of
9700 matric tonns. So by looking at this data it can be assumed that the
demand of aluminium chloride anhydrous will keep on declining as fall in
the global market.
But looking on to a long term basis, we can say that the demand will rise and
export of aluminium chloride will increase
As a researcher I am not at a particular post through which I can give any
recommendations and conclusion to this topic.
