The Burda - Chapter 3

his feet complained in pain from swelling

I did wrong by the sunnah of the one who spent the night
in prayer until

whose skin was delicate, under stones

And he tied up his insides from hunger and enfolded his

flank

but he showed them, oh what haughtiness

The haughty mountains of gold sought to tempt his soul

indeed need does not trespass the quality of being

protected from error

if not for him, the dunya would not have been brought out
from non-existence

and the Arabs and non-Arabs

And his need confirmed his renunciation of it

And how can need invite to the dunya the one who

Muhammad, master of the kawnayn (dunya and akhira)

and the thaqilayn (the people and jinn)

righteous than he is in saying yes or no

for every terror from the intruding fears

Our Prophet, the commander and prohibitor, no one is

more

He is the beloved, the one whose intercession is hoped

for

He called people to God; those who cling to him

cling to an unbreakable rope

and they did not approach him in knowledge or in nobility

He surpassed the prophets in physical and moral

character

They are all (of the prophets) requesting/seeking

a scoop (of water) from the sea or a sip of continuous

rain

for the sake of a dot of knowledge or the vowels

then the Creator of breath chose him as His beloved

And they are standing, at their limit

He is the one whose being/essence and form are perfect

Free of any partner in his excellence

and excellence of his goodness in him is indivisible

and judge according to what you want, praising the

Prophet and take to task (the ones who deny his
virtuous quality)

and attribute to his rank what you will of greatness

has no limit, such that the speaker can articulate with

his lips

Discard what the Christians alleged about their (own)

prophet

And attribute to his being what you will of nobility

Indeed the excellence of the Messenger of God

If his signs were proportionate to his worth

then his name would give life when called to that which
is decaying

out of desire for our protection, and so we did not doubt He did not test us in what the mind cannot comprehend
or go astray

either close or far, anyone who is not dumbfounded

(regarding him)

The understanding of his essence defied humanity and

there is not seen

As the sun appears small to the eyes from afar

And how can his reality in the world be realized

and it blinds/weakens the eye from close

by a sleeping nation, whose description of him are (like

interpretations) of a dream

and that he is the best of all the creation of God

And the extent of our knowledge about him is that he is

human

And each verse that the noble prophets brought

were only connected to them from his light

they showed their light to the people in darkness

And verily he is the blessed sun, and they are its stars

Universally and gave life to all the nations

Until when the sun rose his light spread

and his character adorns him with by good temperament

and the river in generosity and the ages/fate in

determination/resolution

How noble is the creation of a Prophet who is adorned

with good character

As the flower in luxury and the full moon in radiance

when you meet him, were in a huge army or entourage

As if he, when he is alone, because of his greatness,

from the source/essence of the speech from him and

smiling

And as if the pearls are located in oysters

good tidings to the one who breathes it in and covers in it

No scent is equal to the dirt that has encompassed his

bones

Huro gilma bhi khusiyan manane lage
When the master was about to come,
The maidens and boy servants of Paradise began to rejoice.
Har taraf noor ki rosheni chagayi,
Mustafa kiya milay zindagi milgayi,
The light spread everywhere,
With the coming of the Chosen One came life to us all.
Aie Halima teri goad mein aa gaye,
Dono alam ke Rasool, Allah hee Allah
O Halima in your lap has arrived,
The Messenger of both worlds.

Koi chehray ki tareef kernay laga,

Some would praise his face,

Aminah dekh ker muskuranay lagein,

Amina bibi sab say yeh kehnay lagein,

Festive music was sounded,
Songs of happiness were heard by all.
Har taraf shor Salealla ho gaya,
Aaj peda Habib e Khuda ho gaya,
Everywhere shouts of peace on him
Today the Beloved of God has been born.
Phir to Jibriel nay bhi yeh elaan kiya,
Yeh Khuda kay hein Rasool, Allah hi Allah.
Thereafter Gabriel announced,
This truly is the Messenger of God.

Oh My Soul
Should you not gain your wants, my soul, then be not grieved;
But hasten to that banquet which your Lords bequeathed.
And when a thing for which you ask is slow to come,
Then know that often through delay are gifts received.
Find solace in privation and respect its due,
For only by contentment is the heart relieved.
And know that when the trials of life have rendered you
Despairing of all hope, and of all joy bereaved,
Then shake yourself and rouse yourself from heedlessness,
And make pure hope a meadow that you never leave.
Your Makers gifts take subtle and uncounted forms.
How fine the fabric of the world His hands have weaved.
The journey done, they came to the water of life,
And all the caravan drank deep, their thirst relieved.
Far be it from the host to leave them thirsty there,
His spring pours forth all generosity received.
My Lord, my trust in all Your purposes is strong,
That trust is now my shield; Im safe, and undeceived.
All those who hope for grace from You will feel Your rain;
Too generous are You to leave my branch unleaved.
May blessings rest upon the loved one, Muhammad,
Whos been my means to high degrees since I believed.
He is my fortress and my handhold, so my soul,
Hold fast, and travel to a joy still unconceived.

From the Valley of Wada'

And we owe it to show gratefulness
Where the call is to Allah

coming with a work to be obeyed

It saved Noah from the Flood
It made Adam more than mud
Its our flesh and its our blood:
"There's no god except Allah"

"La ilaha ila'Allah"
"There's no god except Allah"
Abraham was sent by Allah,
On him blessings of Allah.
It's the polish of your soul,
By it our lives become whole.
It's our start and it's our goal:
"There's no god except Allah"

It revives hearts that are dead
Through it Enoch wrote and read
For it they took off Johns head!

By it Faith is made concrete,
By it you become complete,
Mankind, be sure to repeat:

This Truth placed Bilal ahead

This Truth kept Salman's soul fed
For this Truth our Suhaib fled

al-Hashir** [The one after whom people are gathered] was sent by Allah,
On him blessings of Allah.
For sick hearts it is the cureFor those who seek to be pure.
It's the Truth that shall endure:
"There's no god except Allah"

al-Aqib**[The Final Prophet and Messenger] was sent by Allah,
On him blessings of Allah.
Its what made Khadijah spend
It made Aisha ascend
Lord, grant we say at our end:
