Analog Output 23AA20

Application, characteristics and technical data have

to be taken from the hardware data sheet:
23AA20

1 KGT 150 401

Operation
The 23AA20 board has two galvanic isolated analog
output channels. Each of them can be configured individually to one of the following output current:
V
V
V
V

-5 mA...
-5 mA.....
-10 mA...
-20 mA...

0...+2.5 mA
0...+5 mA
0...+10 mA
0...+20 mA

Unipolar or live zero value output definitions have to

be specified by an RTU560 function parameter.

Processing function
The I/O microcontroller (EAP Ein- Ausgabe-Prozessor / Input- output processor) controls the two digital
to analog converters. It converts the received output
value from CMU (CMU = communication unit) into
the D/A format and force an output conversion. The
output value keeps stable until a new value receives.
The output value is zero after power up, cold start or
warm start of the 23AA20.
Basic subrack only:
If the RTU560 is reset (by CMU reset button or on
command from CS) the 23AA20 board set the output
value negativ. This state is given until the reset button
is released or the CMU software enables the peripheral bus again. A positive output value of e.g. +10 mA
becomes -10 mA.
The last output value keeps set if the ST-LED is ON after normal operation.

Live zero / unipolar output

Defined by the output type parameter of the setpoint
message (SPM) or general output message (GOM).

Doc.No.: 1KGT 150 434 V000 1

The EAP calculates the output value to the live zero

definition:
V 0000 (0 %)

= 4 mA

V 2000 (100 %) = 20 mA
The ouptut channel becomes a live zero channel after
it is parameterized by the CMU. Until that time the output has the default of 20 mA.

Power supply requirements

The 23AA20 board consumes up to 650 mA on
+5 V DC (Vcc) of the subrack power supply 23NG24.
Regard total load in the subrack.
23NG24 supplies max. 5000 mA on 5 V DC.

Settings
The jumper settings for channel 1 or channel 2 are described in table 1 or table 2.

Signalling
The board monitors and checks its functionality as
well as the dialog via the peripheral bus. Detected errors are indicated and/or transmitted by the board:
V by the red LED ST on the front plate
V by diagnostic messages
The ST LED indicates board errors or peripheral
bus errors.
The ST-LED indicates:
V board runs initialization procedure
V board is doing a cold- or warm start
V board has detected a memory error (RAM or
EPROM)
V micro controller faulty
V no dialog via the peripheral bus for at least 2
minutes. The board is not polled by the PBP of
CMU..
