Most of the symptoms for fragile X are

for boys.

Autism
Delayed development of Speech and
Language
Intellectual disability
Mental retardation
Hyperactivity
Hand flapping
Hand biting
Temper tantrums
Poor eye sight
Speech Problems
Problems in impulse control and
distractibility.

It is caused by mutation in the FMR1 gene

where a DNA segment expands. Normally
this happens 5-40 times but in people with
fragile x this process happens more than
200 times.
The bigger DNA segment
suppresses the FMR1 gene which
prevents the gene from producing a
protein called Fragile X mental
retardation protein. Fragile x affects
the x chromosome.

There are prenatal tests for Fragile x.

The most common test for Fragile x is
the CVS (Chorionic villus sampling) test.

There is no drug for Fragile x but there

is some medication you can take to solve
some of the side effects.

Men are more likely to have Fragile x and

be affected by it because they only have
one x chromosome.
1 in 4,000 women have Fragile x and 1 in
8,000 men have Fragile x also any type of
people can get it.

There is no drug for fragile x but there

is some medication you can take to solve
some of the side effects. There are also
support managers to help people who
have fragile x.

The problems encountered as a child will carry

over to adulthood. You can outgrow some of
these problems though. The adult may
need to live in a supervised situation and can
benefit from vocal training.
Fragile X Syndrome (FXS) often occurs with other conditions. Some of these
conditions include anxiety, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD),
autism spectrum disorders, depression, difficult peer relationships,
intellectual disabilities, and learning disabilities.

Fragile X syndrome (FXS) is a genetic condition that

causes intellectual disability, behavioral and learning
challenges and various physical characteristics.
Though FXS occurs in both genders, males are more
frequently affected than females, and generally
with greater severity.

Life with Fragile X Syndrome is as close to normal

as a person who has any other disorder. Possibility
of seizures that are sometimes present in people
with Fragile X Syndrome can disrupt daily life.
People who have Fragile X syndrome and their
families learn how to manage many learning
disabilities that are part of the syndrome. In
general, people diagnosed with Fragile X Syndrome
live to enjoy life and make the most of their lives.
Everyday life for a person with Fragile X Syndrome is as close to a normal everyday life as person with a
disorder could get. Many articles talk about how their children love doing everyday activities like playing
sports/games with their friends and they have many hobbies. There are some situations when a person's
Fragile X abnormalities will get in the way of a persons fun. Some people have seizures that come with
having Fragile X Syndrome and that alone can put a person out of their normal self for a couple of days at
