Title: Onion and pineapple asexual reproduction

Aim: Learn how fast can the shoot system of an onion or a
pineapple can be affected by an amount of glucose added to
the water.
Research Question: How does the shoot of a pineapple and
an onion help in asexual reproduction being affected by a
certain quantity of glucose?
Variables:
IV: The plants, onions and pineapples.
DV: The growth of the roots in the plants.
CV: Amount of water and glucose in each sample
Theoretical Background:
Shoot system: A plant has many complex systems that keep it
living and growing, including the shoot system. When referring
to the shoot system in a plant, we generally refer to the
leaves, buds, flowering stems and flowering buds, as well as
the main stem itself. The word 'shoot' generally is used when
talking about the main stem.
Asexual reproduction: Asexual reproduction is a type of
reproduction by which offspring arise from a single organism
and inherit the genes of that parent only but it does not
involve the fusion of gametes and almost never changes the
number of chromosomes.
Materials:
- 6 onions per group (3 groups)
- 6 pineapples
- 100 ml of water per onion and pineapple

- Glucose
- Toothpicks
Procedure:
1.

4.

Take a beaker per onion.

Put the 100 ml of water.
Put the respective amount of glucose to the sample.
Use the toothpicks to put the onion or pineapple by the
beaker.
5. Wait 1 week and see the final results.

Analysis of Results/Graphs:
Finally, as we can see, the amount of each solution varied and
we could see that when each sample has more amount of
glucose, the roots grow bigger as pineapples. Even though,
pineapples don`t grow their roots as fast as onions but they
grow.
Conclusions:
In conclusion, asexual reproduction in plants is very effective
with the right amount of water that doesn`t matter if it has
more glucose or less. It will still grow and reproduce. In
pineapples and onions, both grow their shoots and it helps
them to maintain their properties and grow better.

The experiment went very good but for the next one, there
could be other changes as a longer time to grow the roots or
more amounts of glucose to see how big it can get.
