PSG College of Technology started in the year 1951 by the PSG &
Sons' Charities Trust is an AICTE approved autonomous institution
affiliated to Anna University and ISO9001 certified. Most of the
programmes have been accredited by the National Board of
Accreditation (NBA). PSG College of Technology believes in

frontier disciplines through Innovative Educational Programmes,

Coimbatore is the second largest city in Tamilnadu after Chennai

Popularly known as Manchester of South India, is well known for its
textile mills, textile machinery manufacturers, engineering
industries, hosiery units, automobile parts industries, and has
excellent potential for industrial growth. There are about 50,000
small, medium, and large scale industries. It has 7 Universities, 40
Engineering Institutions and more than 70 Arts & Science Colleges.
Coimbatore is blessed with salubrious climate and water throughout
the year. The temperature of the City would be around 250C during
January. The city is strategically located at the junction of the three
southern states, namely, Tamilnadu, Kerala, and Karnataka with
proximity to many important cities of Southern India. It is well
connected by Air, Rail, and Surface Transport. The historic temple of
Perur is located in the heart of the city. Marudamalai and Isha Yoga
Center are located about 20 km from the city. The scenic hill stations
of Ooty, Munnar, Kodaikanal, the historic temple of Palani, and
near by exciting Kerala with its enchanting back-waters and
ayurvedic health resorts, to name a few are all a couple of hours
drive from the city.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering offers
two undergraduate programmes, namely, B.E. (EEE) and
Sandwich B.E. (EEE), and post graduate programmes in Applied
Electronics, Power Electronics and Drives, Embedded and RealTime Systems, and Electrical Machines, besides PhD
programmes. The department has well qualified faculty and
excellent facilities for research. Department of EEE, houses four
Centres of Excellence in the areas of Cable Technology, Electrical
Drives, Low Voltage Switch Gears, and Solar PV Systems in
association with leading industries in the respective fields. PSGLapp Centre for Excellence in Cable Technology is equipped with
latest products in Cable Technology like Control and
Communication Cables, Fibre Optics, Bus Architecture, Network
Components, Cable Accessories, and Tools. PSG - L&T Centre for
Excellence in Low Voltage Switch Gear is equipped with latest
products in control elements like Contactors, Motor Protection
Relays, Circuit Breakers, and Testing software. Major equipments
in the PSG-Danfoss Centre for Climate and Energy include RC
Components, Heating Solution Components, PCA Components,
IGBT's Dismantling Kit, Practical Working Drive, Test Beds,
Application Kits, and VLT Drives. PSG - PROSUN centre for
Excellence in Solar PV systems is equipped with Solar PV Cell
Assembling Unit, Solar PV Module Reliability Testing Unit, and
measuring meters for Solar PV systems.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The Department of EEE is organizing ICIEES'17, an
International Conference on Intelligent and Efficient
Electrical Systems . The objective of this conference is to
provide a forum for the presentation of latest developments,
ideas and their applications to the practice of Electrical
Systems Engineering by way of promoting academic-

industry interaction and fostering collaboration. The

conference aims to bring together researchers from Industry
and Academia to present and exchange their ideas,
applications, and innovative techniques in the area of
Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
