Weekly Activities
You need to earn at least
points to complete your weekly spelling homework.
You may select any combination of activities you like, but you may only complete
each activity one time per week.

5 points ABC - Alphabetize your spelling words.


5 points Cursive -Write your words in your best cursive handwriting.
5 points Vowels and Consonants - Write your words and highlight or circle
the vowels.
5 points Practice, Practice - Write each spelling word 3 times.
5 points Syllables - Divide your spelling words into syllables (ex.
un/der/stand).
10 points Word Doctor - Write your spelling words. Underline the trickiest
part of each word and for at least 3 of the words, write a sentence describing a
trick you can use to remember the correct spelling.
10 points Practice Test - Take a practice test and have an adult sign it.
5 bonus pointsWrite each word you misspelled on your
practice test 5 times.
15 points Add It Up! - Add or multiply to find the value of each spelling
word using the key below.
Vowels (a, e, i, o, and u) = $0.75
Q, V, W, X, Y, and Z = $1.25
All other consonants = $0.35
15 points Sort - Sort your spelling words into at least 3, but not more than 5
categories (ex. syllables, parts of speech, vowel sounds, properties). Create a
title and write the categories above the words.
15 pointsSynonyms - Write your spelling words, then list a synonym for each
word.
15 points Sentences - Write a sentence for each word that shows you
understand the meaning.
20 points Word Search - Use a piece of graph paper to create a word search
using all of your spelling words. Write the spelling list below the word search.
Have a friend or family member complete your word search.
20 points Crossword - Create a crossword puzzle with words from your
spelling list. The crossword must include clues that show you understand the
meaning of each word.
25 points Story - Write a letter or story that uses all of your spelling words.
Your writing must make sense!
