Project Description
Project Name: Level III Tutor Training
Project Client: Tutaloo Tutoring in conjunction with Middle Georgia State
University
Project Manager: Lana Kempton, Instructional Technologist, Middle Georgia

Subject Matter Expert: Paul Johnson, Student Success Center Coordinator,
Middle Georgia State University

The purpose of this project is to develop tutor training modules in order to encourage
professional growth of learning centers and their tutors.
This project consists of 5 units, one of which is already completed. The units that will
be included are: a review of more basic concepts, self-regulated learning, how to
tutor target populations, training and supervising other tutors, and group
management skills. The unit Group Management Skills was created during the
summer of 2016. Articulate Storyline was used to produce this instruction as well as
create a main menu for the course. This unit of instruction was utilized for training
purposes in July 2016 to test its usability and was applauded by all who used it.

Instructional Goals and Objectives


Develop 4 units of instruction for level III tutor training.
Overall Goal: Tutors will be effectively trained and meet CRLA standards for
certification.
Objective 1: Tutors will be able to summarize the topics learned in level I training.
Objective 2: Tutors will be able to summarize the topics in level II training.
Objective 3: Tutors will be able to identify appropriate reactions given a situation.
Objective 4: Tutors will be able to identify key responsibilities while supervising
others.
Objective 5: Tutors will be able to identify the skills necessary when managing a
group of learners.
Objective 6: Tutors will be able to create a learning resource and present that
resource to other tutors in face-to-face training.
The following units will be developed in this online training: Unit 1, 2, 5, 6, and 7.

Learner Profile
Tutors undergoing this training are already Level I and II certified. They have
completed a minimum 75 hours of tutoring. They have had experience with the
majority of the issues discussed in this training, with the exception being training and
supervising other tutors. This training will simply build to their knowledge base with
the intention to encourage better technique and etiquette when working with
students and associates.
