HOLIDAYS HOMEWORK 2016

ENGLISH
BOOK IN AN EMPTY CORN-FLAKES / OATMEAL BOX

Students will read the first five chapters of The Diary of a Young Girlby Anne Frank.Each
student will then select a book report container. The container could be a cornflakes empty
box, or anything else that might be appropriate for a book. Students cover their containers
with plain sheets (white or coloured) and decorate it to convey some of the major details,
elements, or themes found in the books / chapters read written / drawn on different sides.
When the container is completed, students can also work on the contents of their containers.
Such as the following:

Questions - Write five questions based on the content of the chapters read.

Vocabulary - Create a ten-word glossary of unfamiliar words from the chapters read.

Things - Include three things that the students found interesting in the story.

The third and final part of the project will be the students presentation. Each student will
present the project to the class (this is to assess their speaking skills). In the presentation, the
student will conduct a show and tell about the literary elements of the chapters -- setting,
characters, conflicts, climax, or resolution.
