Prep. The pt.: With the room warmed, and the pts
bladder emptied, help the pt. into a supine
position, exposing entire abdomen and draping the
genitalia.

Begin in the RLQ at the ileocecal valve area


Use the diaphragm because of high pitched bowel
sound
Bruits/venous hum: Listen with the bell

Splenic Dullness: not wider than 7cm


Normal liver span: 6 to 12 cm
CVA tenderness: use indirect fist percussion
