Game Integration Plan

Part 1. Game Selection

1. Title of the Game: Zondle
2. Description: Zondle is a games-based learning platform that supports
review and practice for school tests and exams. Students of all ages can play
any topic in any game, to support exactly their learning needs. Teachers can
create topics (sets of questions on any subject) and then students can play
these topics in any of the zondle games.
3. Justification: Why did you select the game for your students? I
selected this game for students because it is a very user-friendly game and it
provides multiple options that can fit the needs of different learners.
Part 2. Game Integration
1. Title of the Lesson: Los materiales
2. Subject(s): Spanish
3. Grade Level: 7
4. Learning Objectives (List what students will be able to do at the end
of the lesson in measurable terms.)
Students will identify classroom objects in Spanish
Students will identify the gender of the nouns
Students will describe the quantity of school materials in Spanish
5. Standards (List state or national standards addressed.)

MLI.INT1 The students demonstrate understanding of simple spoken and written

language presented through a variety of media in the target language and based on
topics such as self, family, school, etc.

MLI.INT2 The students interpret verbal and non-verbal cues to

understand simple spoken and written messages in the target
language.
6. Duration: This lesson will take 4, 50 minute class periods.

7. Game Integration (Describe how you will integrate the selected

game.): I will integrate the selected game after I have introduced the
vocabulary and taught gender of nouns in Spanish. The game will be used
for practice and assessment.
8. Procedures (Describe the instructional steps that will be taken to
implement the lesson. This section should provide detailed, step-by-step
procedures on how to instruct the lesson and how to use the selected
game to achieve the lesson objectives.)
Teacher will introduce new vocabulary (school materials) to the
students in Spanish.
Teacher will introduce the gender of Spanish nouns.
The following day, each student will be given a student laptop.
Students will log onto the computer and then go to zondle.com
Students will login to Zondle using the login that the teacher gave
them.
Students will complete the zondle topics on school materials. In the
first topic they will complete, they will translate the vocabulary words
from Spanish to English. Then, in the next activity they will translate
the vocabulary words from English to Spanish.
The next day, students will complete the Zondle topics on gender. In
the first activity, students will determine whether the noun is
masculine or feminine. Next, they will fill in the correct article for the
school supplies vocabulary.
On the final day, the students will complete the zondle topics on
describing quantities of school supplies. In the first zondle activity,
students will have to determine whether to use cuantos or cuantas
when asking questions. In the second activity, they will have to
answer questions using Hay (There is/are).
9. Evaluation (Describe what student products or performances youll
be looking at and how theyll be evaluated.) : Students will be graded on
accuracy, what percentage of the questions they answered correctly.
Students will receive a total of 6 scores, one for each assignment.
10. Materials Needed (Describe whats needed to implement this lesson.)
Laptop Cart
Internet Connection

Part 3. Reflection
1. Support Needs (What kind of support do you need to successfully
implement this lesson?) : For this lesson, I need a device for each student
and reliable internet connection. The game Zondle is free. I will set up all
student usernames and classes prior to using the game in my class.
2. Suggestions for Improvement (What changes should be made to the
selected game in order to better support you students learning?) : The
only suggestion for improvement for this game is for it to show the students
errors or maybe have an optional feature for students to be able to correct
answers that have been marked incorrect.
3. Overall Reflection on the Game Integration Activity: This exercise
was very beneficial. I have used digital games in my classroom here and
there but only for occasional game days or homework review assignments. I
have never thought about basing an entire lesson around a game. I intend on
trying this out with my students.
