Dear Andrea,

Welcome, welcome, welcome! We are so happy and excited that you are finally here!
We hope that your year with us is exciting and rewarding. We look forward to a great
relationship between you and our family. To help make the year go smoothly, we all
need to do what we can to ensure open communication, consideration, and
cooperation. Please feel free to talk to us at any time if you have any questions,
concerns, or complaints. If there is anything you do not understand, just ask us.
Remember that this is new to all of us!
Like any new situation, the first few weeks will probably be the most challenging. Once
we settle into a routine and you become familiar with our family and our home, it will get
easier. If you are having difficulty with anything, including being homesick, let us know
and we will do all we can to help.
We hope that you find your room comfortable you are welcome to hang pictures or do
whatever you want to really make it feel like home to you. If you need help hanging
anything on the walls, one of us will be happy to help you. Please let us know if there is
anything else you need to help you feel comfortable.
On the next pages, you will see some information that we have put together in a
household handbook that we got from Au Pair Care. We have tried to include as much
information as we could think of, but please let us know if you have questions about
anything. After youve had a chance to read through this handbook, we can sit down
and go through it together to make sure you understand everything.
Once again, welcome! We are looking forward to a wonderful year!!
Love,
Amanda, Michael and Griffin

Au Pair Responsibilities

Looking after, feeding, bathing, and playing with Griffin. This includes monitoring
Griffin and being present when he is taking naps.
Driving/riding/walking Griffin to and from classes, outings or errands if required
by the family.
Assisting with light housework related to child care.
Preparing bottles (breastmilk and formula) and solid foods (baby food puree at 6
months). When we get closer to that time, we will discuss what/how we want to
prepare the baby food.
Putting away toys, books, etc.
Doing Griffins laundry (as necessary, likely 3 times per week); crib sheets to be
changed every other week or as needed if there is an accident
Make sure the nursery is neat (toys and clothes put away)
Cleaning up after meals/snacks (cleaning bottles, pumping supplies, etc.).
Keeping your own room tidy and your own laundry done. You will have your own
set of towels and sheets.
A cleaning service will be coming every other week, so no need for major
cleaning (bathrooms, vacuuming, mopping etc.)
Please keep the bathroom neat. While it is primarily yours to use, we will need to
use it when guests are over.
