Do Now
When students arrive to class, they are expected to come in, sit down, and get right to work. A daily Do Now
will be completed and students are expected to follow the assignment directions. Each day of the week will
have a specific Do Now (for example, Tuesday is W.O.W.)
Written Work
All work must have a full heading. The heading is as follows:
Name:
Date:
Assignment Name:
Period:
Absent/Missed Work
In the event that a student is absent, he or she is responsible for finding out what was missed and
then completing those assignments.
Students have one day for every day absent to complete the missed work. If the student missed a
test or quiz, the student needs to make arrangements with the teacher to make it up. S
tudents who
fail to make up a test/quiz (or do not speak to Ms. Sharkey) one week after their return to school
will receive a zero for that test or quiz.
Students are encouraged to check the Weebly or Google Classroom. When you return to school, go
immediately to the Absent Bin to pick up worksheets from when you were out (Folders are labeled by
date).

Late Work
All assignments must be handed in on time. Late assignments will not be given full credit unless a
valid reason for tardiness is submitted by not, email, or phone call from a parent or guardian. Any
homework assignment that is handed in late without a valid note will be work, at most, 70%.
Projects, writing assignments, or any other assignment given more than one weeks notice to
complete will lose 10 points for every day late (The only exception is when you are absent).
6th Grade Homework Policy: In the event of missing/incomplete homework, you will receive a zero
for the assignment and be required to stay after school THAT DAY to conference with the teacher
and complete the assignment. The homework zero is not erased and becomes part of the students
average. During the First Marking Period, three missed assignments results in parent contact. If you
receive your 4th homework zero, you will be assigned a central detention. During the Second and
Third Marking Periods, two missed assignments results in parent contact and a third results in a
central detention. During the Fourth Marking Period, one missed assignments results in parent
contact and a second results in a central detention.
