2. SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS
The following describes the safety considerations that must be observed before using the system, the powerrelated equipment and the peripheral equipment, such as consoles, the Main Distribution Frame (MDF),
telephones, PCs, printers, etc.
DANGER

If the system emits smoke or a burning, acrid odor, immediately turn off the system power.
Operating the system in this state might cause a fire, an electrical shock, or a system failure. After
turning off the power and confirming that the smoke has disappeared, contact the dealer.

If any equipment, such as the system, the main power source, a cabinet or peripheral equipment tips
over, turn off the power and contact the dealer.

If liquid reaches the inside of the system or the main power source, turn off the power. Operating
the system in this state might cause a fire, an electrical shock, or a system failure.

PW

Do not touch the internal parts of the main power source to disassemble or configure it. This action
may cause a fire, an electrical shock or a system failure.
NEC Corporation does not take any responsibility for disassembled or reconfigured equipment.
Do not put any container objects (such as a vase or a cup) on the main power source or any
peripheral equipment. It might cause a fire, an electrical shock or a system failure.

Be sure to use cables designated by NEC or cables attached to the equipment. If cables are not
designated particularly, choose cables with considering safety and transmission performance
carefully. Ask the dealer or your local agency if needed.
Do not tamper with, modify, forcefully bend, forcefully remove or twist an electrical cord or any
wiring to or from the system, the main power source or any peripheral equipment. It might cause a
fire, an electrical shock, or a system failure. If the wiring is damaged, contact the dealer.
dust

Correctly insert all of the electrical plugs into the electrical outlets. Before inserting a plug into an
electrical outlet, ensure that there is no dust on the plugs blades. If there is dust on a blade, it might
cause a fire.

DANGER

Do not use power other than the power that was designated for the system when it was installed.

PWR

Do not attempt to repair or move the main power source without assistance from the dealer.

Do not put any metal or combustible objects into a vent of the system, the main power source, or
any peripheral equipment. Operating the system in this state might cause a fire, an electrical shock,
or a system failure. If this occurs, turn off the power and contact the dealer.

Be careful when using any peripheral equipments Liquid Crystal Display (LCD). If the liquid
leaks, it can be harmful to the user and to the system.

Before connecting any non-NEC, customer-provided equipment, check with the supplier to ensure
that the equipment is compatible. If the supplier cannot confirm the compatibility, do not connect
the equipment. Connecting incompatible equipment might cause a fire or an electrical shock.

PL-3

PRODUCT LIABILITY

WARNING

Do not place any object on the system or the main power source. If the object falls, it might cause
personal injury or damage to the equipment.

When removing a plug from an outlet, be sure to grip the plug, not the cord. Gripping the cord to
remove the plug could cause a fire or an electrical shock to occur.

If lightning causes a fault, contact the dealer.

Provide the appropriate temperature, humidity, and ventilation on an around-the-clock basis. For
example, at a height that is one meter (3.28 feet) above the floor, the temperature should be between
20 C and 25C (68 F to 77 F) and the humidity should be approximately 50%.

WARNING

Observe the following precautions when using any optional batteries:

The systems emergency back-up battery may be a rechargeable lead battery. Check the
emergency battery for an electrical failure.
Battery acid (electrolyte) is extremely harmful to human skin and eyes. If battery acid
contacts skin, wash the affected area with soap and water. If battery acid contacts the eyes,
flush the eyes with water. In either event, seek medical attention. If there is battery acid on a
cloth, use water to wash the battery acid from the cloth.
Do not intentionally short batteries. Do not put the battery near a fire or in a fire. Do not
disassemble the battery, drop it or knock it against another object.
The batterys life expectancy is affected by its environment. The normal battery life is
approximately three years. If the battery is used in an outdoor setting and is exposed to high
temperatures, its life expectancy drops to approximately one year.
Perform periodic diagnostic tests and maintenance procedures on the emergency battery and
its terminals to ensure their readiness. If there is a power failure and the emergency battery is
not ready, then the system will not work. Additionally, a damaged or dead battery, or terminals
that need replacement might cause battery acid to leak, which might cause smoke or a fire.
The battery and terminals are periodic replacement parts (the cost is chargeable to the
customer). A service contract, with the supplier or service technician, to perform routine
maintenance for the battery is recommended.
Do not touch peripheral equipment with wet hands. Do not allow any liquid to touch any of the
peripheral equipment.
Do not touch the printers internal components when replacing disposables such as a cartridge or a
ribbon. Ensure that the printer is turned off and that it is not hot in order to prevent burns from any
accidental contact with the internal components.
Do not drop the peripheral equipment or knock it against another object. These actions might cause
an equipment failure.

ATTENTION

Thinner

Do not use benzine, thinner or alcohol for cleaning. When removing dust and dirt, put diluted, mild
detergent on a cloth and then wring out the cloth. Remove the dust and dirt with the cloth and then
wipe the cleaned area with a dry cloth.
Do not place any equipment in the following environments:
Locations that are exposed to direct sunlight
Locations where the moisture level exceeds the allowed level
Locations where the equipment might be exposed to water, oil, or chemicals
Locations with very low temperatures, such as in a walk-in cooler or freezer
Locations that are exposed to Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) from devices such as
television sets and two-way radios
Locations that receive illegal electric waves
The life expectancies of the system and the main power source will be shortened if placed in a
location that is affected by hydrogen sulfide or salt, such as a seaside area.

2.2 Operating Conditions

1.

Internet access is required to connect to the Software License Authentication Center (Web Server).

2.

Windows Installer 3.1 or later, Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5*, and Microsoft .NET Framework 4 must
be installed on the PC to use PCPro. If these are not installed on the PC, it will be installed automatically
when PCPro is installed.
* Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 is necessary only when Windows Vista or earlier, or Windows Server 2008
or earlier is used. Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 is not necessary when Windows 7 or Windows Server
2008 R2 is used.

3.

Enable "XPS Viewer" in "Windows Functions" to open XPS files on Windows Vista or later, or Windows
Server 2008 or later.

4.

Note 1: You cannot connect to the SV8500 system with RMAT.

5.

Administrator right is required for installing PCPro.

6.

PCPro can be used by both Standard User right and Administrator right. Note 2

Note 2: When using PCPro by Standard User right, note the followings:

Available since FP85-110 S7.

For using PCPro by Standard User right, PCPro must be installed in Standard User mode.

Standard User mode is available for Windows Vista or later, or Windows Server 2008 or later.

Enable User Account Control (UAC) and "Virtualize file and registry write failures to per-user locations" policy setting.

Do not change the settings (enabled/disabled) of User Account Control Virtualization after installation.

When using a built-in account (Administrator), Administrator Approval mode for the built-in Administrator account must be enabled by Security Policy settings.

The files automatically output by SV8500 PCPro are redirected to VirtualStore of each user by UAC
Virtualization.
VirtualStore folder
<System Drive>\Users\<User ID>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\

CHAPTER 2

PCPro Overview

The files automatically output by SV8500 PCPro are output to VirtualStore of each user. Therefore, if
a security software that automatically processes files by such as an encapsulation is installed, the encapsulation of VirtualStore must be disabled.

Some encryption tools cannot handle files redirected to VirtualStore normally. If such tools coexist with
PCPro, PCPro cannot be used in Standard User mode, but can be used in the Administrator mode only.

The files (log data, command output data, connecting account database and so on) output by SV8500
PCPro are individually maintained in VirtualStore of each user. Therefore, such files output by other
users cannot be referred.

PCPro cannot be used by Administrator right that are elevated from Standard right.

Do not change the directory of the installation destination from the default setting.

7.

PCPro must be operated by the same user who logged in to PCPro.

8.

When you enter an IP address on PCPro, you can only enter the address part of an IP address. A port number cannot be entered.

3. Conditions for Operating PCPro

1.

While launching or operating PCPro, other application must not be launched.

2.

Disable the power management of PC.

3.

A maximum of four PCPro are available for serial connection in the same system. However, same command cannot be used on multiple PCPro.

4.

A maximum of 16 PCPro are available for TCP/IP connection in the same system. However, using other
application than PCPro in the TCP/IP connection may decrease the maximum number.

5.

While one PCPro is executing the data backup, other PCPro cannot use any command in the system.

6.

When using PCPro, each log file accumulated in the PC can be deleted from the main menu [Log\All
Logs Management].

7.

Be sure not to delete or change the folder where PCPro is installed, including the folders under the folder.

8.

Each COM port allows a connection from only one PCPro (the one that connected to the COM port first).
For serial connection using multiple PCPro on the same PC, assign different COM port for each PCPro at
"Connection Account Setting".

9.

To take over the PBX alias information of Windows MAT to PCPro, follow the procedure below.
- Before uninstalling Windows MAT, back up the [PbxProfile.mdb] file under the installing directory for
Windows MAT (\DB).
- Uninstall Windows MAT.
- Install PCPro.
- Overwrite the backup file under the installing directory for PCPro (\IMXMAT\DB).

CHAPTER 2

PCPro Overview

10. To install this program, the Windows User Account must be created in single-byte character sets such as
English single-byte characters or symbols.
11. Antivirus software may block the ports to be used by PCPro; in this case, configure the antivirus software
to release the relevant port.
PCPro uses the following ports;
Telephony Server side: 60000 (default)

CHAPTER 7

CHAPTER 7

QuickPro

QuickPro

This chapter provides the overview, window layout and operating procedure of QuickPro.
1. General
QuickPro is an application tool which enables you to create multiple records of Office Data for several kinds of
command on either online or offline, and to register the created data to the system in one operation. Refer to
QuickPro Command List for commands available for QuickPro
Telephony Server

PSTN
QuickPro (Online Mode)
(Serial/Dial-up Connection)

QuickPro (Online Mode)

(Serial/Direct Connection)

QuickPro
(Offline Mode)

QuickPro (Online Mode)

(TCP/IP Connection)

QuickPro registers data of multiple commands to the system in one process by using the Data File and Order
File.

Data File
Data File is used to specify the values for each command data.
You can enter multiple records of data in one Data File.
Use Microsoft Office Excel to create Data Files. The command data can be created efficiently by using
the copy, paste and cell operation function of Microsoft Excelon the template file exported from QuickPro or with a file exported from Listup Report intended for QuickPro use. Note 1

Note 1: Here in after, Microsoft Office Excel is indicated as Excel.

Order File
Order File is used to enter the processing order to execute multiple Data Files, Destination FPC (Note 2)
and process type (SET/DEL/SKIP).
You can register multiple Data Files in one operation by specifying the order to assign the command data
in the Order File.

Note 2: You need to log on to NCN (Network Control Node) to assign data to other nodes.

64

CHAPTER 7

QuickPro

Either Online Mode or Offline Mode can be selected to operate QuickPro.

Online Mode
Online Mode is a mode which QuickPro is operating with connecting to the system.
With Online Mode, you can create the Data File with the exported template which conforms to the system
connected with QuickPro. In addition, you can execute an input value check on the created data, apply the
checked data to the system and confirm the process results.

Offline Mode
Offline Mode is a mode which QuickPro is operating without connecting to the system.
With Online Mode, you can create the Data File with the exported template by specifying the system type
and system version. In addition, you can execute an input value check on the created data and confirm the
process results.

Note:

For detailed procedure to create and register the data with QuickPro, refer to Procedures to Create/Register the Data in this chapter.

65

CHAPTER 7

QuickPro

2. Service Conditions of QuickPro

<General Service Conditions>
1.

QuickPro is available for systems with the following software version.

System

Software Version

SV8500

Since FP85-104 S1

SV7000

Since FP30-100 R16

NEAX2400 IPX

Since Feature Package 8500

2.

The versions of Excel which are available for editing the Data Files and Order Files are Microsoft Office
Excel 2003, Microsoft Office Excel 2007, or Microsoft Office Excel 2010.

3.

When QuickPro is activated, the following processes cannot be performed.

Exit from PCPro

Connect to/Disconnect from the system

4.

Data created in Offline MAT cannot be used in QuickPro and vice versa.

5.

The system information setting is required to operate QuickPro in Offline Mode. For procedure to set the
system information, refer to System Information Setting in Procedures to Create/Register the Data
section of this chapter.

6.

When QuickPro is operating in Online Mode, available commands vary according to the login grade of
the user. For detailed information on the login grade, refer to Login Grade Setting in Chapter 5 Various
Settings of PCPro.

Note:

If you are operating QuickPro in Offline Mode, you can use all of the commands available for the specified
system to export the template of the Data File and execute an input value check of the created data. However, if you use the Data File created in Offline Mode and use them in Online Mode, some commands may
be restricted according to the login grade.

7.

Log files stored by QuickPro will be output up to the limit of the disk capacity of the PC unless the user
deletes the log files voluntarily. Therefore, backup or delete the log files periodically. For deletion procedure of log files, refer to QuickPro Window Layout - QuickPro Window Component Names and Functions - Log Management - Main Menu in this chapter.

8.

If the maintenance PC to operate QuickPro contains a security software which automatically converts/
manipulates files such as file encapsulation, specify the folder to store the Data Files and Order Files as an
exception for this process.

9.

When any antivirus software is installed in the same PC where QuickPro is installed, and the antivirus
software is consistently in monitoring status to enable a real-time virus detection, the operation for QuickPro may become considerably slow. To work around this problem, set BatchProcessLog folder in the
folder where QuickPro is installed as an exception for continuous monitoring. Refer to your antivirus software manuals for detailed setting procedure, since the setting procedures differ among each antivirus software.

66

CHAPTER 7

QuickPro

<Service Conditions for [Batch Processing] Tab>

1.

The maximum number of Data Files which can be specified in [Batch Processing] tab of QuickPro is 100.

2.

When executing an Offline Check process, the input data are checked whether they are within the range of
minimum to maximum value (regardless of the system setting) available for each parameter. Therefore,
for parameters which valid values are dependent on the system environment (for example, the maximum
value for a tenant and the valid number of digits for a station number), there might be cases where data
cannot be registered in Online Mode even though an Offline Check is completed. For detailed information
on Offline Check, refer to Procedures to Create/Register the Data - Data Check in this chapter.

3.

Confirm that the system environment is valid when creating the Data File template since the format of
Data Files may vary according to the system type and version. In addition, confirm that the Data File supports the system to which the data are registered to when applying the data.

<Service Conditions when using Listup Data>

1.

Data Files used for QuickPro can only be exported from Listup Report for Commands without a Menu
Bar.

2.

Parameters and input ranges for a same command may vary among systems with different types or versions. Verify the differences in parameters among systems when using Listup Data.

3.

When you execute listup commands with specified conditions, the data that is out of the specified range
(the number of digits) may be output because searching methods vary among the parameters whose number of digits is variable such as station numbers or DC.
If you use listup data as a QuickPro data file, confirm the data is within the range you intended to have.
