UNIVERGE SV8500 LICENSE

&REGISTRATION PROCEDURE
This document covers how to obtain a license file and activation code for a SV8500. It
does not cover the SV8500 Initial Software Installation or how to upgrade the
software.
Refer to the UNIVERGE SV8500 Installation Manual (NWA-041677-001) if further
information is needed.

OVERVIEW

An order is placed with NEC for an UNIVERGE SV8500. For the hardware portion of the
order, the parts are shipped to the dealer from NEC. If ordered, a DVD containing the
following will also be shipped: Generic Software, Registration Wizard, CCWX Enterprise
MAT, PCPro, PCPro Tools, NEC USB Compact Flash Tool, ACDP Software, and the
SV8500 Documentation. For the software portion of the order various license options
are purchased. Each license has a part number and each license is issued a Software
Key Code (SKC). NEC places the purchased licenses onto the LMS server. An email is
sent notifying the dealer that they can log into the NEC Information Portal, navigate to
Licensing Portal (LMS) and access their licenses.

Through LMS, the dealer has the freedom to create a list of their own customers. Also in
LMS, the dealer can view all the licenses that they have purchased. The dealer can
attach the licenses to the customer of their choice. Once the licenses are attached to a
customer, the dealer then registers the licenses with the LMS server. Once the licenses
are registered for a customer, the LMS server generates a license file (svi.zip) and the
dealer downloads the file. If the dealer has entered the customers Hardware Key
Codes (HKC) into LMS, an activation code for the SV8500 will also be generated. If the
dealer has not entered the customers HKC(s) into LMS, then an activation code for the
SV8500 will not be generated. The HKC information can be entered by the dealer at a
later date or it can be uploaded to LMS at a later date by the installer. An activation
code can only be generated after the HKC are registered for the customer.

If the installer is to obtain an activation code while on site, it will require having
internet access at the site and will also require the installer to have a login and
password to the NEC Information Portal. This option also requires that the
installer has privileges to access the dealers licenses. For example, some
installers are contractors and would not have access to the licenses for the dealer. In
such a case, the svi.zip file and activation code should be obtained in advance by the
dealer and given to the installer.
For your convenience, the LMS server has a HELP tab. The HELP menu can be
accessed at any time. It contains pdf documents as well as recorded demonstrations.

Licenses (top of page),

in advance, refer to Section-I Step-8 on how to update the HKC(s) in the customers profile.
An activation code can be obtained on the customers premises after the svi.zip file has been uploaded to the
SV8500. To use this option, please note the requirements for the installer as listed on Page-2. The following
steps describe this option.
Note: PCPro Tools uses FTP for file transfer; verify that FTP has been enabled for LAN1. To verify:
Log into the MAT; ADTM command, select LAN1; select Options tab; select Activation setting of
Internal Server and verify the FTP Server box is checked.
1. Place the svi.zip file, obtained from the LMS server in Section-IV, into the PCPro Tools
directory on the maintenance PC. Copy the customers svi.zip file into the newly created folder
described above under Directory Information.
