This specification has been restructured from conceptual and graphical point of
view as Company specification, its general revision has been performed in
accordance with CEE rules which require functional requirements evidence
and discriminating elements deletion.
In particular:

the specification does not take into account only one type of steel, but the
minimum mechanical properties has been fixed;

all the requirements already included in the required stan dards have been
cancelled.

GENERAL

1.1

SCOPE
This specification aims to defines the additional prescriptions to Code UNI EN
10028/3 for the supply of high class steel to be used for the fabrication of
pressure vessels handling hydrocarbons.
This specification regards steel plates in a thickness range from 16 mm to 100
mm.
This specification covers also the requirements for supply of materials to be
used in sour environment with H 2S.

FUNCTIONAL NORMATIVE REQUIREMENT

2.1

Operative environment
Requirements to be considered do not exist.

2.2

Functional requirements

2.2.1

Materials requirements
Materials shall be in accordance at least with the requirements specified by UNI
Code EN 10028/3.
Steel shall be ageing type resistant, it shall be killed with aluminium and should
have a fine grains structure.
The dimension of the ferritic grain shall comply with the requirements of UNI
Code 3245.
Alternative materials supposed as equivalent or better shall be submitted to
Company approval; the proposal shall be justified with comments and anyway
shall satisfy the additional requirements of this specification.
Carbon equivalent shall satisfy the requirements of the UNI Code EN 10028/3.

2.2.1.1

Mechanical properties
The mechanical properties shall be determined for each steel plate or part of
steel plate used for the equipment fabrication and shall comply with UNI Code
EN 10028/3.
The mechanical tests and the relevant samples marking .shall be carried out in
the presence of the Companys Inspector who shall have free entrance into the
places where the testing will be performed.
When heat treatment is requested after welding, the deviation minimum values
(from proportionality to 0.02% ) allowed according UNI Code 10028/3 shall
be found on the samples submitted a stress reliving treatment at 600C.

Heating and cooling velocity and permanence soaking time at stress reliving
temperature treatment shall be in compliance with ISPESL Codes, collection
S, chapter S 8.

The impact test must be performed at test temperatures specified by UNI EN

code 10028/3; the relevant minimum values must be met.

2.2.1.2

Supplementary requirements in presence of H 2S

Material for uses with fluids containing H 2S, which can cause SSC (Sulphide
Stress Cracking) and HIC (Hydrogen Induced Cracking), shall comply with
the additional requirements of specification 05589.MAT.COR.SPC.

2.2.1.3

Heat treatment
The steel plates shall be supplied after a proper normalisation heat treatment in
accordance with ISPESL Code collection S.

2.3

Ergonomics
Requirements to be considered do not exist.

2.4

Safety
Requirements to be considered do not exist.

2.5

Requirements for Quality Management and Quality Assurance

Possible requirements for Quality Management and Quality Assurance will be
included in the applicable management specification, attached to the offer.

2.6

Additional requirements for review

Testing and inspections which are requested and will be witnessed by
Company are specified in Inspection
Data Sheets
(IDS)
(MOD.MEC.PRV.107).
Contractor shall submit for approval his inspection plan, including a
description of the available equipment.

2.6.1

Inspection test specimens

Each steel plate or piece of it, shall be provided with a specimen having a
ISPESL stamp.
These specimens shall be used for the inspection test during fabrication.

2.6.2

Chemical analysis and mechanical properties check

Check analysis is requested for each steel plate or piece of it used for the vessel
fabrication.
Heat and check analysis certificates are requested.
It is allowed to take a sample from a specimen used for checking the
mechanical properties.
For acceptable limit and deviation values reference shall be done to prospect II
of UNI Code EN 10028/3.

2.6.3

Non destructive examinations

The Contractor, when it is not differently specified in the documentation issued
for the specific project, shall supply steel plates examined with ultrasonic
examinations in accordance with Class C of EU Code 160.
Obviously during this check the defects with dimension greater than the
acceptable ones according the criteria specified in the codes as above shall not
be evidenced; moreover all the scaling found along welding edges, also if with
acceptable dimensions, shall be repaired properly before vessel fabrication.

2.7.1

Testing documentation
Testing documentation which steel plate Contractor shall supply must include
at least the following informations:
-

chemical analysis certificates;

mechanical tests certificates;
heat treatment cycle certificates;
micrographic examination certificates with presentation of original
micrographies 100X;
- non destructive examinations report;
- conformity declaration relevant the average grain dimensions.
