Sides of the brain


There is two sides of the brain, the left side and the right side. These two hemispheres of our brain
process information in different ways. While we have a natural tendency towards one way of thinking,
the two sides of our brain work together in our everyday lives. Left-brained people are supposed to be
logical, analytical, and methodical, while right-brained people are supposed to be creative,
disorganized, and artistic. Here it is some specific differences:
The right side of the brain
o Sees, thinks and processes information in whole, concrete images, therefore, it does not use a
step-by-step method to reach a conclusion.
o Thinks emotionally, intuitively, creatively, globally and analytically
o May have difficulty with the verbal or language arts skills of hand printing, phonics, spelling,
reading, writing sentences and paragraphs
o May also have difficulty understanding and working with mathematical concepts of time,
measurements, size and weights, money, fractions, number facts, word problems, algebra and
geometry
o May not be able to follow oral and written instructions without a visual demonstration. Needs all
three senses involved: listening, seeing and touching.
o Reacts best to visual images, oral discussions and handling objects.
o May excel in music, art, drawing, athletics and coordinated physical movement.
The left side of the brain
o Thinks in abstract letters, numbers, written words and formulas.

o Excels in mathematics, reading, spelling, writing, sequencing and the use of verbal and written
language.
o Is strongly verbal and reacts best to verbal input.
o Responds well to phonics when learning to spell and read.
o Handles sequencing of numbers, letters, words, sentences and ideas easily.
o Does not need to visualize in whole, concrete images to understand ideas, both concrete and
abstract.
o Sees the parts within the whole first, and then arrives at the whole concept of a given idea.

The predominant side of the brain on famous people


There is people that obviously have one of their two sides more predominant than the
other one, so here it is some examples of famous people:
Cody Simpson
He is a songwriter from Australia; he has his own record label, so his predominant side of
brain is the right side.
Frida Kahlo
She was a Mexican painter and poet; one of the most Latin American artist of the
twentieth century, her predominant side of brain was the right side.
Isaac Newton
He was a physicist, philosopher, theologian, inventor, alchemist and British
mathematician; his predominant side of brain was the left side.

Ernest Rutherford
He was a physicist and chemist from New Zealand, his predominant side of brain was the
left side too.
