Education (DepEd) issues the following clarifications for learners entering Kindergarten.
DO 36, s. 2016 - Policy Guidelines on Awards and Recognition for the K to12

In line with the implementation of Republic Act No. 10533, otherwise known as Enhanced
Basic Education Act of 2013 (K to 12 Law), the Department of Education (DepEd) is

The Department of Education (DepEd) hereby issues this Addendum to DepEd Order No.
3, s. 2016 (Hiring Guidelines for Senior High School [SHS] Teaching Positions) to
supplement and clarify provisions of the said Order.

2016. In line with this,school principals and/or school heads, with the support of the SHS
Focal Person, and schools division offices, are enjoined to take the lead role in
implementing enrolment activities in their respective localities to ensure universal
participation in SHS. Also, schools division offices and schools are directed to use
enrolment data to continuously improve their SHS implementation plans and to make
necessary adjustments in order to ensure efficient school operations in time for the
opening of classes on June 13, 2016.

DO 22, s. 2016 - Implementing Guidelines on the Allocation and Utilization of
the Indigenous Peoples Education (IPEd) Program Support Fund for Fiscal Year
(FY) 2016
The Department of Education (DepEd) has instituted a National Indigenous Peoples
Education (IPEd) Program in pursuit of the National Indigenous Peoples Education Policy
Framework based on DepEd Order No. 62, s. 2011 entitled Adopting the National
Indigenous Peoples (IP) Education Policy Framework and Republic Act (RA) No. 10533,
the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013.

2016-2017.

DO 20, s. 2016 - Encoding, Housekeeping, and Updating of Status of
Alternative Learning System (ALS) for Calendar Year (CY) 2015 and Abot-Alam
Learner Profiles for CYs 2014 and 2015 on the Learner Information System
(LIS)
In line with the effort of the Department of Education (DepEd) to establish a complete
and accurate database of learners, the Learner Information System (LIS) will be open
from April 6 to May 15, 2016 to allow Encoding, Housekeeping, and Updating of
Status of Alternative Learning System (ALS) for Calendar Year (CY) 2015 and
Abot-Alam Learner Profiles for CYs 2014 and 2015 on the LIS. This is to address
discrepancies in the reports submitted by the schools divisions vis--vis the actual data
in the LIS, as well as to support the downloading of 2015 continuing funds for the
implementation of Abot-Alam in 2016.

DO 16, s. 2016 - Creation of the Interim Project Management Office (PMO) for
the Government Assistance to Students and Teachers in Private Education
(GASTPE) Effective School Year (SY) 2015-2016
With the implementation of the Department of Educations (DepEd) Rationalization Plan,
several offices were restructured, streamlined or dissolved, including the Bureau of
Secondary Education, which previously managed the Government Assistance to Students
and Teachers in Private Education (GASTPE) Program. Although the day to day
administration of the GASTPE Program is contracted to the Private Education Assistance
Committee (PEAC), a focal unit is needed in the Central Office to manage policy
formulation, implementation, and monitoring nationwide.
