THE DELUXE READING TOUR: ERIK ERIKSON

My Title of the Reading: THE EGO OF A MAN

Original Title of the Reading: Childhood and Society. Erik H. Erikson.
Key Quote: The shift of the seesaw is a reduction which often follows with irrational
suddenness. Without becoming aware of a change in mood, we find ourselves involved in
thoughts of 'oughtness': what we ought to have done instead of what we did do; what
we ought to be doing now in order to undo what we have done; and what we ought to do
in the future instead of what we would wish we could do. .

Why I choose this Quote: The start of how ego develops in a child.
Brief Summary: Erik Erikson take on the psychosocial theory. Based with Sigmund
Freuds psychosexual theory, Erik Erikson takes on the other side of the
psychology developmental theory which is the Ego. Everyone has it and how it
develops depend on the environment and the stages that goes through
depending on how the ego developed.
