wealthiest and most elite students. This is not necessarily the case. While the Ivy
league schools are certainly expensive, they do not represent the totality of the
private university experience. Most small private liberal arts colleges,
seminaries, and men's and women's colleges have extensive financial aid
programs designed to attract a wide variety of students. Private colleges work
hard to attract a well rounded student body, and strive to include students from
all backgrounds and income levels.
Student cannot get education only in classroom and we also cannot make them
great by confining them into the four walls. It is quite clear that learning does not
possible by confining someone into four walls but it only possible through the
interaction with internal and external environment. The quality of products has a
direct relationship with thequalities of the facilities positional in the process of
production. In many countries low level of education is due to insufficient level
of physical facilities. Leeper, et, al., (1968) says that child learns not from
abstract but from the things existing in material form. Research portrays that
the possibility of every physical facility i-e fresh water, electricity, toilets etc has
its own influence on students performances. Shami and Hussain (2005)
describethat the possibility of physical easiness have a significant impact on
students working. Environmenthas its own importance in students study and
without suitable environment nothing can be done. Bruce (2006) statedthat
environment works as the
teacher but it also has the meanings that
environment has no limits in itself. Space is considered very necessary and
proper element for rich environment because it provides suitable climate
for learning. Researches revealthat proper environment provides proper
resources to children. This also gives them chance to practice and give them
powerto show what they have learned. Other thing is room which should be
on the ground floor, so it can be easily superintend. Bruce (2006) stated
that proper environment explore children to get enlightenment. The
furniture has also its importance because it is linked with comforts,
attraction and well-being. The furniture should be comfortable, attractive,
child sized and storable. Cheers should be 22 inches high from back and
should also be moveable. Cheers should also be depended on ages and sizes of
children. Each class should have a clock. Clean environment has healthy
impression on child behavior. Over the past thirty years hundreds of studies
have proved that physical environment is necessary for higher goals.
History mentioned that the effect of physical environment had effects on
education. Some of them concerned on single factors while other concerned on
lighting or noise. stated that physical easiness has also its effect on teacher
morality, personal safety, effectiveness and general learning
environment. Moreover, it is described that educational building
conditions were affecting students performance and estimated that
improved facilities could lead to 5.5 percent to 11 percent improvement on
standardized (Edward, 1992). Edwards (1992),and Hines (1996) had reported
in their studies that school atmosphere should be appropriate, replete with
educational easiness and play its role for better teaching and learning.
Edwards (1992) revealed that school building conditions, parental
involvement and student achievement are highly co related with each other.
Moreover, Cash (1993) stated that substandard and above standard buildings
When it comes time to consider your choice of college, think about the kind of
classroom situation in which you thrive. Are you more comfortable in small
groups, working one on one with a professor? Or do you flourish in the larger
lecture halls, determining your own study habits and exploring the subject at
hand freely and without extensive supervision? Each student is different, and
what is perfect for one may be a detriment to another.
Smaller student groups also tend to result in more intense classroom discussions,
and a greater camaraderie amongst students
Unlike their larger counterparts, private colleges put professors in every class
giving students a direct line of communication with their teachers. Large
university courses are often taught by professors' assistants, or doctoral students
instead of the professors themselves. While many students respond well to the
larger lecture hall approach, it can sometimes leave the more timid and less
focused student behind.
The advantages to a smaller school include smaller class sizes, more one-on-one
attention from professors, and closer-knit student groups. The student-toprofessor ratio is a lot smaller at private schools, so personalized attention is
common, and something private schools are known for. When it comes to a
demanding program like an MBA, the one-on-one attention and close peer
relationships play a tremendous part in the success of most students. In larger
schools, the classroom environment isnt as nurturing.
Private colleges are often considered out of reach to the average college-bound
student. That is not always the case, and depending on the institution in question
may be as affordable as any average State funded college. Private universities
offer students the benefit of smaller class sizes, one on one attention, and a
more focused and devoted curriculum. For many college-bound students the
private college is preferred school of choice.
Many private universities, like Amherst and even Harvard, have set aside their
student loan programs in favor of more expansive grant and scholarship
programs. In this way they have been able to open up their campuses to a
greater number of qualified students. Similar grant and scholarship programs at
other private universities have allowed for a growing diversification in the
student bodies of these seemingly exclusive schools.
