Script (PC Assembly with Configuration and

Networking)
Definition of PC Assembly:
A PC computer is a modular type of computer, it can be assembled
using hardware components made by different manufacturers, so as to have
a custom built computer according to one's specific needs.
The following components are available when building a computer:
1. The casing: metal casing which houses the internal components of the
computer. The casing usually comes with its own power supply and a
set of screws, connectors and cables.
2. The motherboard: a large printed circuit board used to connect the
processor, RAM, hard drives and CD/DVD drives, and comes with its
own set of riser connectors.
3. The processor: the computer's main integrated circuit, the true brain
of the computer, performing all the main calculations.
4. RAM modules.
5. Storage devices such as hard drives, CD-ROM and DVD-ROM drives
and burners, and the floppy disk drive.
6. Expansion cards are used to upgrade computer functionality and
performance.
7. The motherboard is the main card, in the form of a large printed circuit
board with connectors for the processor, RAM modules and expansion
cards.
OHS or Organized Health Safety:

Always ground or discharge yourself before touching any part of the

computer.
Do not work alone so that theres someone who can take care of you in
case of accident or emergency.
Be careful with the tools that may cause short circuit.
Always full the cable connector on the handle and not on the cable
itself.
Use only rubber shoes when standing on the ground or in the concrete
floor
Make sure that the pins are properly aligned when connecting a cable
connector.
Always power off and unplug the computer before working on it.
Take away any liquid such as mineral water or soft drinks near your
working area or near computers.

Contingency measures during workplace accidents, fire and other

emergencies are recognized.
Personal protective equipment is correctly used in accordance with
organization OHS procedures and practice.
Hazard/risks in the workplace and their corresponding indicators are
identified to minimize or eliminate risk to co-workers, workplace and
environment.
Take necessary precautions to protect the component of the computer
from damaged cause by Electrostatic Discharge (ESD).
Hold the components by edges and do not touch the ICs.
Read and follow instruction on the manual carefully.
Do not use excessive force if things dont quite slip into place.

What did you do during the contest?

The component that I started to plug inside first was the Power Supply,
next I installed the Processor onto the socket and locked it by its own
Retention mechanism, next I installed the CPU cooler which are held by four
screws I screwed them gently and tightly to prevent it from falling, next I
Installed the 2GB DDR3 RAM stick onto the RAM slots or connectors, next I
installed the SATA Data cables inside the motherboard before I screwed in
inside the System Chassis, next I plugged in the 24 pin and the 4 pin power
connectors from the Power Supply to the Motherboard to provide it with
some DC or Direct Current Power, next I plugged in the Optical Drive which is
by the way easy to install just install it and slide the green locking
mechanisms on the side to lock them into place and I plugged the SATA
Power and Data Cables so that I can use it later for installation, next I
plugged in the Hard Drive which is also uses a Tool less drive slots and I
plugged in the SATA Power and Data cables so I can use it later for
installation, next I plugged in the Front Panel Headers which are pre-bundled
by the OEM manufacturer so its just plug and play, next I plugged in the
Ribbon Cable that came out from the Parallel port from the case, next I
plugged in the VGA, PS/2 Mouse and Keyboard onto the sockets at the back
of the System Chassis, next I powered it on and waited for it to POST and I
put in the Windows 7 Installation DVD to the Optical Drive after that I
mashed F8 in the keyboard to boot to the Optical Drive to install Windows, so
while it is booting to the Installation DVD I started preparing the Ethernet
Cable for it to be used later and when it is done booting and I saw the
Windows 7 Installation Screen I followed the Instructions on screen and while
it is installing I continued crimping the Ethernet Cable which I started with
the UTP cable and Took off the Rubber Shield using the Crimping Tool after
that I untwisted the wires and aligned them carefully to match the normal
Ethernet Cable color coding which are the colors White Orange, Orange,

White Green, Blue, White Blue, Green, White Brown and Brown and after
aligning them and making them not go to the other direction I pulled some
force and pulled it up using my hands for it to tighten and after it was done I
cut of the wires to make them equal in height so that I can plug it to the
RJ45 head easily so I got my RJ45 head ready and after that I plugged in the
color coded wires inside the head and carefully checked them to make sure
they are aligned properly and after that I got the Crimping tool and plugged
in the RJ45 to the Crimping tool and firmly pushed the crimping tool to give
the gold pins to have in contact with the wires so it would work and after it is
done I repeated the procedure to the other side and when it is done I
plugged them both to a LAN tester and turned it on to see if it is correct and
when it is correct I plugged it in from the computer to the network hub, next I
set up the PC with the name that the instructions gave me and after that I
waited for it to load the desktop and when it loaded to the desktop I ejected
the Installation DVD and replaced it with the Drivers CD and installed them
one at a time after that I installed the rest of the programs and I opened
Word and typed in the words from the Instruction paper and after that I
opened Network and clicked the PC that is connected to the Printer and
double clicked the printer from the other computer and after it is connected I
switched to Word and started it to Print and after that the contest is
complete.
