eAM and Fixed Asset Synchronization using Location Codes

Applies to:
Oracle Enterprise Asset Management - Version: 12 and later.
Oracle Asset Tracking Verison: 12 and later.
Oracle Assets Verison: 12 and later.

Audience
Applicable for customers licensed for Oracle Asset Tracking (OAT), Enterprise Asset Management (eAM) and
Oracle Assets (FA).

Applicable to implementations using OAT to create fixed assets located in multiple physical locations
maintained by a single eAM organization.

Goal
Define the basic setup steps required to enable automatic synchronization between eAM Assets and
the Fixed Asset Location when a single eAM Organization is defined with capitalized assets at multiple
physical locations.

Solution
Testcase Scenario:
One maintenance organization is defined with asset numbers located in multiple retail stores. Each
store has fixed assets created using OAT with locations assignments in the respective store location.
Assumption: The eAM Organization is already defined with a Location (HR Locations). The Assets
Location is defined (Key Flexfield) and Values have been created.

The following responsibilities are utilized in this example:

Asset Tracking Super User

Enterprise Asset Management

Step 1 - Creating Location Codes

Asset Tracking Super User - Navigation: Setup>Define Locations

Enter the Address Fields

Enter a User Defined Location Code

Step 2 - Creating the Location Mapping

Asset Tracking Super User - Navigation: Setup>Asset Location Mapping

Select from the List of Values:

o Location Source = Location Codes
o Location = User Defined Location Code created in Step 1
o FA Location = Select the Fixed Asset Location defined for the same Physical Address

Step 3 Update eAM Asset Number Location

Enterprise Asset Management: Asset>Asset Numbers>Asset Numbers

Locations Tab
By default, the Address for the assets is that of the Inventory Organization Location. To indicate that
the asset is at another physical location, enter the User Defined Location Code.

Select from the List of Values:

o Location Code = User Defined Location Code created in Step 1

Step 4 Update eAM Asset Number FA Synchronize Option

Others Tab

Enable Synchronized Checkbox

This flag -through OAT- helps in keeping the operational attributes of the Asset in sync with the
financial attributes of FA Number, when Assets move between locations.

Run Interface Move Transaction concurrent program in OAT, to reflect these updates.
