2. FUNCTIONALITY

Performance Requirements
Firewater pump will Auto start at the following conditions :

Any confirmed fire or confirmed high- high level gas or


manual ESD or ESDV incident on either YYY or XXX
platform.
Low Firewater header Pressure detected by PSLL-8030
and/or PSLL-8031 (start within 15 seconds)

Assurance Strategy

Operation and Maintenance:

Confirm the Firewater pump auto started in the


conditions stated at performance standard during periodic
testing

Table 5-5.1. of NFPA 25.

The firewater pumps can be started manually from

the Main Control Panel the YYY control room

start push buttons adjacent to Firewater pump


and auxiliary generator.
Manual stop can be perform with Stop pushbuttons
adjacent to Firewater pump and auxiliary generator.

Engine Cranking is set to continue for 90 seconds.

Operation and Maintenance:

If the engine do not start at the 90 second racking, the


controller locks of the cracking and send a pump fail to
start signal to F&G system.

Manual start then can be perform which will initiate an


another 90 seconds crank cycle, and can be repeated until
the engine starts or the starting air and the back up
nitrogen is fully exhausted.

Overpressure protection is provided by relief valves in the


discharge lines PSV-975 (pump A) and PSV-976 (pump B),
each set at 200 psig (14.06 kg/cm2).

Assurance Strategy

Fuel tank is two-thirds full.


Controller selector switch is in AUTO position.
Batteries (2) voltage readings are normal.
Batteries (2) charging current readings are
normal.
Batteries (2) pilot lights are on or battery failure
(2) pilot lights are off.
All alarm pilot lights are off.
Engine running time meter is reading.
Oil level in right angle gear drive is normal.
Crankcase oil level is normal.
Cooling water level is normal.
Electrolyte level in batteries is normal.
Battery terminals are free from corrosion.
Water-jacket heater is operating.
