BILL OF MATERIALS. (MATERIAL TAKE-OFF) T.N.GOPINATHE 1.0 Scope Following areas to be covered in the MTO - Bulk material requirement for all piping items - Valves, vessel trim & speci items - Valves & other ing item requirements for instrumentation, within piping scope. - Insulation and painting MTO for Piping items, ~ 2.0 Stages of MTO. m™ 2.2 Intermediate MTO. 2.3 Final MTO. Following Documents are required for different stages of MTO. Documents required for doing material take-off, depends on whether the engineering of area is being done on 3D or 2D. 2.1 Preliminary MTO of Bulk Piping Items Documents required - - PaiD’s = Line List - Piping Specification Equipment Layout & Plot Pan ing studies for major header routing - Instrument Hook-up drawings. items- Counted from P&I Diagrams. ary MTO. Generally this MTO is done afier 2 to 3 month of start of Detail engineering. 2. Take a separate set of P& ID s, GAs & line list for MTO purpose. 2.1.2 Line wise MTO to be prepared and mark the line considered for MTO in P& 2.1.3 Coding shall be done on B.O.M. standard format only. Refer piping spec for coding items. 2.1.4 Ensure that line size, line service code, line n up. 2.1,5 Use one B.O.M. sheet for each. accounted in separate sheet against Piping Material Specification (PMS). line spec, are properly if line having two spec. MTO shall be 2.1.6 For out of spec. piping items call out specialty code for applicable table. 21.7 No special items like 3-way valves / Strainer /‘Traps, ete. are to be coded. 2.4.8 Check the llowing points, a) Do notadd any Escalation. ') Do not include assumed fittings / Hold items such as: 3) Reducers Likely to change during detail engineering due to change in the type, sizes for vendor related items 45Dexg, elbow Detail design may have less no, of 45° elbow Flanges connected Sizes may be different for vendor to vendor in vendor supplied items. Reducing Tees During the detail engineering, the planometric changes may make changes in sizes especially for utility lines. c) The take-off shall be on the conservative side, as the material required will get added in intermediate & final MTO. 2.2 Intermediate MTO: 2.2.1 Documents required: P&ID Piping GA/ Piping studies for all areas where 3D software is in use MTO reports down loaded from 3D software for areas being done in 3D, Instrument department list of Piping item qty. Accuracy of this MTO shall be in the range of 70 - 80%. Generally this activity is done within seven to nine months of start of Detail Engineering. 2.2.2 Intermediate MTO for valves and Special items. Documents Required: - P&D extract text files from Process department - — P&IDs 7 Piping specification - 3D data for Special items (Such as Traps, etc.) 2.2.3 Check the following points, #) Do not add any escalation. 5) Do not add flanges & reducers for which sizes are not final (also Gaskets / Studs / Bolts / Siub ends), ©) Substitute the item to reduce the surplus 2.3 Final MTO: 2.3.1 Documents Required: - — PRID'S. = Line List = Isometrics 100% complete - Piping GAD for small bore line and for are made (For 2D engineering). = MTO reports for all models down loaded from areas being done on 3D. 2.3.2 Escalation shall be added 2.3.3 The accuracy of the MTO shall be 95% - 98%, MTO shall be continuously monitored to take corrective action, for any changes to redueeserpies=———— 2.3.4 Check the following points 8) Add escalation based on company standard final MTO. +b) Substitute the item to reduce the surplus. seeereenene
