Twenty-Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

In todays gospel parable the rich man wanted to warn his brothers so they could avoid his fate.
Evidently, his whole family ignored the poor! If you were the rich man and could warn your
family, what would you tell them? Better yet invite them to practice the works of mercy to those
in need.
Please pray for our Sick especially: John Baylock, Joseph Benear, Betty Bartel, Jack
Weigand, Lisa Gnap, Irene Lyle, Judy Kriston, Anne Trischan, Fred Kormanic, Shanon

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord!

307 Holy Hours were kept before the Blessed Sacrament this past week. Every Catholic
needs vitality, wisdom and strength that come forth from Jesus in the Holy Eucharist.
Whether encountering the Lord for the first time in conversion, returning to the Lord after
leaving the faith or encountering him daily in faithful, ongoing conversion, every true
Catholic will end up at the tabernacle. (Book: Walk Humbly With Your God, by Fr. Andrew
Apostoli) We are in dire need of adorers for the following hours: Tuesday 3-4pm, Wednesday
8-9am, 11-12noon, Saturday 7-8am. One hour each week is all our Lord is asking. He gives us
168 hours each week! Please contact Mary Jane at 330-753-9979 or Gene at 330-690-9661.
Today, we will take up the Collection for the Catholic Communication Campaign (CCC). This
collection communicates the Gospel through Catholic social media activities and enriches our
faith through television, radio, social media, podcasts, and print media. Please be generous in
this weeks collection and support this important work. Remember, half of your donation stays
in our (arch) diocese to support local communication needs. The CCC is how we share our
experience of faith, worship, and witness.
BLANKET SUNDAY IS COMING SOON The weekend of October 8-9 marks the 30th
Annual Blanket Sunday Collection to aid the needy. This collection is sponsored by the
Diocesan St. Vincent de Paul Society. Due to lack of storage space, we will gratefully accept
your donation and do the shopping for you, making your money go even further with bulk
purchases of blankest and other items needed by the homeless and disadvantages. So blanket someone
for the winter and give yourself a warm feeling! You may also donate online at www.svdpcle.org.

A great prayer for life is urgently needed, a prayer which will rise up throughout the
world. Through special initiatives, and in daily prayer, may an impassioned plea rise to God, the
Creator and lover of life, from every Christian community, from every group and association,
from every family and from the heart of every believer." (St. John Paul II, Evangelium Vitae, no.
100.) St. John Paul II responded to this urgent need by composing the following prayer to Our
Blessed Mother for Life: O Mary, bright dawn of the new world, Mother of the living, to you do
we entrust the cause of life: Look down, O Mother upon the vast numbers of babies not
allowed to be born, of the poor whose lives are made difficult, of men and women who are
victims of brutal violence, of the elderly and sick killed by indifference or out of misguided
mercy. Grant that all who believe in your son my proclaim the Gospel of Life with honesty and
love to the people of our time. Obtain for them the grace to accept that Gospel as a gift ever
new, the joy of celebrating it with gratitude throughout their lives and the courage to bear
witness to it resolutely, in order to build, together with all the people of good will, the
civilization of truth and love, to the praise and glory of God, the Creator and lover of
life. Amen. As we prepare for Respect Life Month in October, adding this beautiful and
powerful prayer to your daily routine would be a great way to start. Remember, the Life Chain
