I would be working with the risk assessment and care plans of the
service user at all times. I would work within duty care e.g. infection
control. I would respect the service users wishes and preferences. I
would also protect the rights and promote the interests and
independence of the service users. I would respect dignity,
privacy,culture and religion of service users. I would maintenance the
trust and confidence of the service user by keeping confidential
information accept the one that will pose danger to them. Health and
safety legislation such as the Health and safety at Work Act, Food Safety
Act, COSSH, RIDDOR and so on influencethe way my role is carried out
as a support worker. The understanding of the health and safety
regulations and putting it into practice make it possible for me to ensure
that service users I am supporting are safe and free from harm. The
confidentiality laws like the Data protection Act, Freedom of Information
Act influence my role in dealing with confidential information about the
service users. I would encourage service user to take medication e.g. if
they refuse medication as they have the right to refuse. I would prompt
service user to clean the environment and also clean up after using
things in the house such as to clean cooker after cooking, to wash hand
after cleaning up and I myself would wear gloves when giving personal
care. This would protect me from picking up infections. I will make sure
that I get consent from the service user and plan activity with consent
with from service user with yes or no choice. I would support service
user to write letter to social worker if they are not happy with care plan or
support with organisation complaints procedure as it is their right.
All service user have their own beliefs and cultures and I would treat
each service user individually and respect their beliefs, I would respect
their values and beliefs if they were religious and wanted to go to church

good starting point. This will help you to identify areas of your practice
that need to be developed and to plan to use opportunities for training
and development. Some employers provide appraisal at six-monthly or
12 monthly intervals, but supervision should be at least once a month.
This gives you a good opportunity to use the experience and knowledge
of your supervisory to help you to plan how to move forward in your
practice. Other sources are manages, mentoring schemes, assessing
specialist through partner and external organisation.
