BENEFACTION BOARD of St. Johns

Lutheran Church met Aug 9th, 2016.
A presentation from Lutheran Family
Services educated us about the LFS At
Ease program that helps veterans with
mental health issues. They are working
on a telepresence method from their
offices to the Northeast Nebraska area.
$4000 was given but we will request
that LFS report back to us in February to
show how our contributions are serving
the veterans in our area. Additional
funding will be considered in the future
pending the development.
A request from Mercy Meals for food
and supplies in the amount of $2500
was approved.
A bill in the amount of $4232.50 was
approved and paid for 15 youth from
our congregation who attended camp at
Camp Carol Joy Hollling this past
summer.
The Lutheran Magazine publication
quarterly bill in the amount of $529.23
was approved for payment. The
magazine is mailed to all registered
members of the congregation.

The next meeting will be on November

8, 2016 at 7:00 PM.

The Get Together team invites everyone to attend

our Fall Kick Off Event on Wednesday, Oct.
5 from
6-7:30 pm. Supper will be served at 6 PM, then
on to a pumpkin decorating contest! Each
household will receive one large pumpkin to
decorate and enter into the contest. Limited
supplies will be provided, and you're encouraged
to bring your own supplies to decorate your
pumpkin. Grand prize to be awarded to the
winning pumpkin. No carving allowed.
Back by popular demand, pumpkin bowling
will be available on the lawn, and we'll end the
evening with a campfire and music. We hope to
see you there!

St. Johns first

worship service
at our current
location was
held on
Sunday,
December 11,
1966. Fifty
years later, we
will celebrate
with a special
worship service at 10 AM and
showcase a Celebration of Wreaths
made by YOU, the individuals and
households of St. Johns. Start
thinking and assembling now how
would you be represented? Wreaths
will be displayed all of advent
throughout St. Johns. Contact Pr.
Justin or Carol Waggoner for more
information.

Pastor
Wiese,
Please help me in thanking St. Johns
Lutheran Church, Norfolk, NE, for your
generous support of your YAGM
participant Aline Skogstoe during her
year of service. Your gifts make a
lasting impact and we greatly
appreciately your partnership in this
ministry.
Blessings, Venis Hamb

as music scholarships. The

Northeast Jazz Machine gave up their
Sunday afternoon for pie and frozen
custard! Kudos to you for helping
out Campus Ministry.
It takes many hands to create this
wonderful afternoon, not the least of
which are the dessert preparers at
First Choice Catering and donated
frozen custard from Culvers. There
were servers, scoopers, set-up and
clean-up folks, auction helpers,
runners, tear-down folks, and checkout helpers. Everyone earned their
sleep and campus ministry is
strongly supported for another year.
Pr. Justin Wiese and the
NeLCM Governance Council

I would like to thank everyone at St.

Johns for their kind gift bags. Your
thoughts and prayers for our brave men
and women is truly appreciated!
Captain Paul Hattan
State Patrol, Nebraska
THANKS SO MUCH to the crew who
repaired damage, caulked cracks,
primed and painted the north side of the
building: Denny Braesch, Mike Frank,
Del Fuelberth, Peg Strong, Ron Benson,
Duane Timperley, and Brian Brasch
and to Lon Timperley for the use of the
lift truck. All your hard work is GREATLY
appreciated!

THANK YOU to everyone who

attended and gave generously in
support of Nebraska Lutheran
Campus Ministry in Norfolk. In total,
over $12,000 was raised to do good
works for our NECC and UNMC
students.
The gift of giving continues through
the fee paid to the Northeast Area
Jazz Ensemble who uses this money

We will be updating our military

wall which is located off the
Narthex to the east. If you have
loved ones currently serving in

the military, please send a

photo to the church office so
that we may include them in
our thoughts and prayers.
