Placement Objective
I am seeking a placement that will allow me to further my knowledge in the tasks,
and to develop the skills that are required of applied Organisational Psychologists. At this
particular placement I hope to practise my communication and teamwork abilities and to
attain enriched experience in working with different people in a professional environment.

Skills, Experience and Personal Attributes

Teamwork
Both secondary and tertiary academic intuitions place great emphasis on
collaborative group work projects. Thus over the years in my schooling I have consistently
demonstrated the ability to work successfully within a team environment. The experience
has made conspicuous for me the demands and knowledge needed to foster a productive
team environment. It has taught me how to appreciate conflicting opinions from other
teammates as being viable alternative approaches to a subject matter, and how to be
assertive in a considerate way when necessary.
Communication Skills
In my previous work environment I was involved in training all the junior staff
members. Many of the computer-based tasks were overwhelming for trainees and this
encouraged me to develop a clear and concise communication style in a range of media. My
studies at university have also furthered my skills in PowerPoint, email, handouts and report
writing. My student leadership roles throughout high school have fostered my confidence in
public speaking and, I still enjoy the opportunity to do so in both small and large group
settings.
Organisational Skills
During my honours year (2008) I enjoyed the challenging task of undertaking a
research thesis. I successfully oversaw this project from conception to completion. During
this time I conducted detailed research and carried out experiments on first year students to
produce a final dissertation. The experience has helped me develop skills in goal setting,
effective time management, managing concurrent targets in coursework and research work,
as well as the ability of coordinating experimental tests independently for over 88 student
participants.
