2010 Present
Assistant Principal, Desert Springs Middle School (2015 Present)
Partner in managing day-to-day operations for the Middle School of ~900 students and 68 staff (40 teachers, 28 support),
including program implementation, training and development, human resources, and safety planning / management.
Leading implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Systems (PBIS) and new math curriculum. Providing teacher
training and evaluation, developing peer mentor relationships, and co-creating assistance plans.
Created and facilitated professional development courses, including: Cultural Awareness in Schools, Professionalism,
Classroom Management for Beginners, Teaching Students in Poverty, and Literacy Across Content Areas.
Partner with ASES Manager to ensure program integration, develop outreach to drive enrollment, and evaluate
program ROI. Collaborated in increasing enrollment from the lowest in the District to the highest enrollment in the
District.
Developed a strategy to secure the schools placement on the respected and influential national Schools to Watch list.
Invited to work on ILC, a cross curricular leadership project (and partnership between Stanford and the California
Teachers Association) to create professional development around implementation of Common Core and other relevant

Lead the mandatory district training and performance coaching program. Instruct new teachers in the areas of classroom
management, community building, lesson planning, differentiation, and assessment. Partner with teachers to address
unsatisfactory performance evaluations through one-on-one coaching and by developing independent development plans.
Interim Assistant Principal, Raymond Cree Middle School (2014)
Stepped in during period of leadership transition. Oversaw CELDT testing, parent conferences, extra-curricular activities
organization, and student behavior management.
Science Department Chair (2011 2014)
Served as Lead Teacher in the Science Department. Worked with twelve teachers to increase student achievement. Drove
implementation of Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards (CCSS / NGSS). Developed and led professional
development courses and capacity building strategies. Partnered with the principal to expand the department by hiring capable
and enthusiastic science teachers.
Co-developed literacy strategies aimed at meeting a mandate to increase reading and literacy in the science
classrooms ahead of the implementation of CCSS and NGSS.
Created a broad range of professional development for instructors, covering such topics as classroom management
and techniques to implement reading, writing, and math into current curriculum with the Common Core standards.
o Trained a team of 18 instructors on lesson planning and effective use of assessments, with specific strategies to help
students learn regardless of their background.
o Worked with new and current teachers on classroom management and discipline strategies, helping the school achieve a
32% year-over-year reduction in incidents of suspensions for defiance and disruption.
Led team to achieve a rate of 93% for observed use of literacy strategies, which contributed to a 3-5% increase in

proficiency among English Learners and a 1-3% increase among students who scored advanced on the assessments.
Science Teacher (2010 Present)
Taught California Science Standards to a diverse student population, including English Language Learners and at-risk youth.
Create courses and curriculum for all classes in the science department, with the goal of engaging students and instilling a
love of learning. Work with newer teachers to implement effective teaching practices and classroom management techniques.
Develop and drive initiatives aimed at expanding opportunities.
Designed and instructed differentiated lessons that ensured understanding among Level 1-3 English Language
Learners while simultaneously enhancing their grasp of the English language (reading and writing).
Collaborated in developing, securing funding for, and implementing a campus renewable energy career academy for atrisk youth. Met challenging State funding mandates and placed all participating seniors in internships or mentorships.
Earned praise for creating accessible and instructor-friendly lessons and courses despite covering often difficult and
abstract concepts. Developed courses that have been adopted throughout the District and in neighboring Districts.
