Throughout all of my years of schooling, I have always had a particular liking for English
classes. The ability to express myself through written word proficiently and with ease has always
been fascinating to me. Thanks to an interest in History, Ive always enjoyed debates and the
like, and thought that I might be interested in Law. Through high SAT scores, I was offered a
position at a Law Studies summer program at Stanford. Per the recommendations of the Stanford
crew, I interned at a law firm. I interned at the Offices of Favaro, Lavezzo, Gill, Caretti & Heppel
for close to a month before being offered a position as a Student Assistant, which helped me
decide that I want to be a Civil Rights Attorney. I learned about many practices of Law, and now
I plan on attending UC Berkeley and majoring in Criminology, then later going to graduate
school at Stanford.
As a high school student, I have held myself to the highest of standards. I have taken
many rigorous courses that are above my grade level. I have taken AP English Language, AP
Spanish Language and Culture (2x), AP English Literature and Composition, and AP
Environmental Science. In addition, I have taken Spanish, Chemistry, Calculus, and Statistics at
Solano Community College. These classes have pushed me to become a better student and allow
me to better understand how I learn. I have come to learn that everyone comprehends things
differently, and effectively catering to your mind with personal study habits is just as important
as the material you are learning. Through these classes, as well, I have learned better time-

management and communication skills as well as the ability to work well with others and
perform under pressure with grace.
As important academics are, I believe that balance is healthy, and participate in many
extracurriculars such as Associated Student Body/Leadership and Clubs. I have been a member
of the Student Leadership team for three years, and am now the Publicity Commissioner. I work
together with my committee to publicize school activities by means of social media, posters,
flyers, School Loop, emails, and announcements. This year, we have added on a new social
media platform, have made posters of more quantity and with more quality, and created short
videos to publicize school spirit weeks and other events. My participation in clubs has included
being active in Science Club, the California Scholarship Federation, Soroptimist Women
Empowerment Club, Debate Club, and the National Honor Society. I especially enjoy the
Soroptimist and NHS club meetings, as I was the Publicity Commissioner of Soroptimist last
year and am currently the National Honor Society President.
Our school has a budding athletics program, and I have enjoyed the privilege of playing
Varsity sports for Buckingham. I played two years of Varsity Basketball, and am finishing out all
four years playing for the Varsity Softball team. These teams have provided me with an
experience that I will never forget, as the hard work put into each season served to build
character and a love of sportsmanship. Through basketball and softball, I have learned to how
hard work truly pays off, the importance of dedication, and how to be a better team player. Ive
sweat and worked hard with my teammates, and the memories that we share I will always look
back at with so much love and gratitude. As Coach Threets says, If it doesnt challenge you, it
doesnt change you.

Im so excited to start a new chapter in my life as a college student. I will continue to

work hard to get to where I want to be, and I will always try to help others along the journey. I
am well on my way to my dream school of University of California Berkeley, and I am confident
in my choice to become a Civil Rights Attorney. I believe that through this job pathway, I can use
my talents to help others. Though my time at Buckingham is nearing an end, the skills obtained
and memories made here will continue to serve me all of my life, and for that I am extremely
grateful.
