One TRU has 8 time slot.

X+Y+Z configuration means BTS has X- TRU, Y-TRU & Z-TRU in their sector A,B& C respectively.
Example: 2+2+2 configuration means 2-TRU in each sector A, B, C of a particular BTS.
Let for sector-A has X (say 2)-TRU means it has X*8 (say 2 * 8=16) times slot.
One time slot is used by BCCH
CBCH + SDCCH will take one time slot if CBCH=1 & SDCCH= 7
CBCH + SDCCH will take two time slot if CBCH=1 & SDCCH= 7+8=15
CBCH + SDCCH will take three time slot if CBCH=1 & SDCCH= 15+8=23 and so on
Remaining Time slot is used by TCH (No. of TCH)

4|Page

To change the SDCCH from 7 to 15 following command is used

RLCCC: CELL=CELL ID, SDCCH=2,CHGR=1;
Using these concepts & by rlcrp: cell=all; we can find the BTS configuration.
One traffic channel has data rate of
One PCM has data rate of 2048 kbps and has 32 time slots i.e. each time slot has 2048/32=64 kbps data
rate
One time slot of TRU carries 16 kbps data rate.
Therefore one TRU (i.e. 8 time slot) carries 8x16=128kbps data
Therefore for one TRU we need two time slot of a PCM (64x2=128kbps) for data transfer.
Say for 4+4+4 configuration, we have 12 TRU in a BTS. Therefore we need 24 time slot of a PCM. For
6+6+6 configuration, we have 18 TRU in a BTS. Therefore we need 36 time slot from two PCM, since
one PCM has not sufficient Time slot.
