Suatu studi Jepang telah mengumpulkan data dalam sepuluh tahun terakhir tentang prevalensi , disana didapatkan
hasil dan menyimpulkan bahwa hiperurisemia dalam populasi secara keseluruhanmeningkat selama 10 tahun
terakhir.Ketika dikelompokan berdasarkan umur prevalensi paling meningkat pada kelompok > 65 tahun tanpa
pengaruh dari jenis kelamin . < 65 tahun, prevalensi pada pria empat kali lebih tinggi dari perempuan, tetapi pada yg
berumur > 65 tahun,rasio wanita : pria adalah 1:3 dengan gout dan hiperurisemia.
