Leadership Principles of the Warrior – Series 13

Leadership Ascendency (Part 5) by Randy Gonzalez

In the last episode, in the eternal hunt for leadership, the figure of speech of “stupid”
is descriptive about those who purposely persist in being unevolved, uncreative and
selfish by exhibition of maladaptive behaviors. They come in all forms and styles, and the
perceptive leader understands the nature of such things. Such is the devolution and the
demise of the human species. A failure to ascend to a higher life form pervades the
history of humanity. Many will try to create entities of assorted kinds to assert the
arrogance of their self-image. Not unlike the monster created by the mad scientist of so
many stories, the grotesque selfishness haunts human habitats.
Over time, leaders will become weary of the foolishness. They see the waste, the
abuse and the greed of myriad misguided deeds. Yet, there a no excuses, no matter the
concoctions of pseudoscience from halls of academia, to the smoke filled rooms of
divisive political intrigue. Everyone is responsible for his or her transformation or failure
to self-evolve. No contrivance of the psycho-medico-pharmaceutical “industrial
complex”, for all their lust of gain, can dissuade the necessities of individual
responsibility. Accountability cuts no corners and offers no compromise.
At a certain point, one must determine to walk away, free and clear, enter into the
twilight of the eventuality and accept one’s finality. Because at the end of the day, the
primary question ghostly whispers from the shadows, have you been a good leader? To
that, the very essence of the question begs whether or not one is a decent person in all
respects. To which, a query would infer that liberation of self has resulted in a well-
differentiated individual personality who has ascended beyond the original person.
As to the externality of discordant dissensions, in primal social regression, the smug
piety of idiocy will not change the outcome. There are various forms. People avoid by
many schemes personal responsibility for their actions. By conflict-ridden words and
actions, condescending expressions of personality, many prefer stagnation to progression.
They relish in remaining at a “high school” state of non-maturity. Easy answers, untested
conjecture, faulty conclusions, stifled inventiveness, and blaming others, etc., mar the
resonance of productive efforts toward superior productivity.

To borrow a term from a pseudoscience associated to criminology, there are strands of

psychopathology interconnected in the digressions of immature devolution. Which of
course, as reflected here, is a stated of intentional utilitarian stupidity. For these purposes,
the psychopathic choices related to maladaptive stands of mind, either overt or covert, by
which one maliciously seeks an advantage over another. It is an interactive process across
a spectrum of various relationships, from the classroom to the boardroom.
From such behaviors, we might infer the purposeful use of stupidity, in order to get
what one wants, with little or no effort, lessened risk factors, and hedonistic reward.
Variations exist in nearly every sphere where humans interact. With a perpetual belief
with the idea that hope springs eternal, the myth of merit based competencies in an
organization is endless confronted by competitive maladaptation.
Within the malevolent schemes of psychopathic antics, the juvenile pretending to be a
mature adult, and there are multitudes, finds ways and means to disrupt productive and
creative processes. Some can hide their juvenile thoughtlessness very well. Others are
more blatant and disruptive. Many find their way to the top of the structure, and carry on
their particular levels of incompetence. The use of such terminology here in no way
conveys any inference relative to “mental illness” or alleged “mental disease”.
Locating any such thing in the brain or something metaphorically referred to as the
“mind”, is extraordinarily misleading and unscientific. People make choices to satiate
their own personal interests for individual or group gain. The social hierarchy in any
given instance is rife with those who will advance a selfish agenda. For the leader, such
indicators are vitally important, as one must be vigilant to oppressive behaviors.
For a “results oriented” society, where the “American dream” is a constant fixation,
and gluttonous consumption an obsession, anyone is capable of anything. When there is a
constant need for attention, promotion and self-importance, beyond a normal balance and
proper perspective, then immaturity in various forms will negatively affect others. In one
study conducted in the UK, a significant portion of top-level managers and chief
executives exhibited a higher degree of psychopathy, than patients “diagnosed” with the
so-called “psychopathic personality”. Typified by bullying behaviors, such people will
plot and scheme their way, not unlike criminals in various lifestyles, by the quickest
routes possible. From commerce to politics, the devolving antics are escalating.

Leaders are challenged by daily confrontations of condescending psychobabble.

Superficial, patronizing and haughty tones reverberate through an organization. Likewise,
by regressive anti-thinking, selfishness focuses on distraction rather than direction.
Deception permeates the premises, whether within the official framework, or inside the
family of origin. Keenly insightful, leadership remains vigilant and proactive. Wary of
speculation, the leader relies on solvability factors that emphasize facts over foolish
inaccuracy. Reliable endeavors rely on the efficacy of the evidence at hand, and not mere
conjecture based on emotion and wishful speculation.
Leaders listen and observe carefully the tenor of his or her surroundings. You can hear
the sounds, the motions and the ruses every day. Undertones of dissension, perhaps even
sabotage and treacherous retribution, deceitfully lurk below the surface of social
interaction. The superficiality is both faint and noisy depending on the setting and the
intentions of the perpetrator. From selfish neediness and whiny excuses for attention, in
the drama of unrealistic reactivity, to the dangerous potentialities of deception,
counterproductive behaviors take place at every level of an organization.
Deception follows in the wake of diverse human interactivity. Leader effectiveness,
along with skillful management and supervision, rely on preemptive detection,
exceptional maturity and corrective implementations regarding unproductive behaviors.
A leader must discern proficiently the necessary strategies to ensure a high degree of
integrity, judiciousness and ethical competence throughout the organizational framework.
Where legal and professional standards are relevant, adherents and participants must be
held accountable for violations. No excuses, punitive sanctions are essential.
If one values wise and mature precepts of behavior, a code of conduct, an oath taken,
then the rightful thing to do is resign by way in the humility of selflessness. In all cases,
discourses and actions, a weighty preponderance of credible evidence, backed by secure
analysis and validation precludes the superficiality of any conjecture not provable by the
facts. Opinions are relevant when supported by competent validation of factuality and
extent of experience based on practical applications. In post-modern “feelings” oriented
cultural regression, the crisis of leadership escalates because of juvenile persistence to
remain stupidity fixated at infantile levels of behavior. Physical age is no limit to the
devaluation of well-differentiated maturity and exceptional individuality.
4

Of the enlightened maturity insight, as to self-evolving transformation, the leader

endeavors a persistent engagement with self-motivation and intentional personal
betterment. Within these parameters, the leadership posture is one that chases a
courageous passion for excellence in changing oneself. His or her quest is one in which
he or she seeks an amazing ascendance to higher levels of personality. Thereby, attaining
and endless trek of inner discovery, the leader labors long and arduously to become a
well-differentiated individual. Selflessness diminishes any fixation on self-interests that
are not in the best interest of others. Every “mission” ensures the cohesion of the “team”.
No matter what the anticipated value of anything, there is no compromise for the ethical
integrity of leadership. Leadership ascendency is a higher calling.
As hope springs eternal in the devolving collectivity of social immaturity, the feel
good satiation of the many salivate at future human transformation. This, as a broad
generalization, characterizes every sector of society. Nonetheless, many will expound
upon their alleged expertise in the proclamations of their pretentiousness to leadership,
but the mythology vanishes at the test of reality. Of symbolism over substance, of
compromise over character, of specious speculation over evidentiary certainty, the
calamity of amative self-indulgence dissolves the necessity of mature ascension.
For the rise of humanity to lofty evolved heights, as wishful writings, media dramas
and movies pretend, the malaise of infantile fixations siphon away productive
probabilities. Such is not likely to happen given the present perspective of selected
futurists. Whether left or right, in the middle, undecided and piously self-righteous,
“leadership” today is merely cover story for selfishness. While a few enclaves of valiant
efforts exist, such is exactly that, few, limited and quickly fading over time.
A fundamental weakness to avoid higher thinking, at ever-increasing dimensions of
ideation, eventually descends to a frailty of unenlightened intrapsychic resolve. Of which
ethical cowardice prevails to willingly stifle relentless efforts that transform oneself in
extraordinary ways. Sometimes the pretended “leader” would rather keep rank, rather
than resign position to safeguard integrity. Instead, fearful hesitance to face challenges,
immediate gratifications, quick fixes and simple answers, immature pacifications,
excuses and mitigations, and anything else to satiate temporary “happiness”. Herded
collusions perpetrate the fictitious ideologies of gluttonous self-indulgence.
5

Examples are everywhere in myriad forms, as to the weakness of a culture, or many

cultures, that lack an enlightened and mature ascendency of leadership. Extraordinary
exhibitions of superbly manifested leader skills, even though evolving in many respects,
enjoying the blunt honesty of authenticity, remain alarmingly scarce. Instead,
disingenuous photos ops mask the dishonesty and deceptions that hide behind well-
funded special interests. Such is the perilous regress to the brink of collapse.
From an elite oligarchy “needing” more billions, to pampered “spring break revelers”
destroying communal infrastructures for want of a break from the rigors of “college”, the
devolving consequences loom darker. At the same instant, news reporters, barely out of
school and old enough to have a sense of learned maturity, pretend to give “sage and
wise” counsel on social commentary in the midst of another “societal crisis”.
Well-informed, truthful and uninhibited commentary fade as a distant relic of the past,
as feeling good for the moment advances the expediency of “conformist correctness”.
Whether internal to the organization, or external in the diversity of the community,
intelligently framed discourse, with a heightened elegance of liberation, suffers the
terminal demise of burial by selfishly arrogant intentions of stupidity. Such is the
darkness in the reflection of modern day failures of exceptional leadership. In short,
many have become an “expert”, within the scheme of their inexperience.
A forthright resolve in methodical efforts to assure reason, perseverance and
authenticity suffer the presence of selfish motivations. Subsequent generations choose to
be less skilled, less competent and intellectually capable than the previous one. Naturally,
there are valiant exceptions, and it is for those extraordinary few, for the time being, that
the masses consume the labors of the others. Inevitably, someone feeling slighted by such
commentary will attempt argumentation by simplistic anecdotal notations. As with any
discussion, where factuality is relevant, storytelling is usually not evidentiary.
Nonetheless, by a “failure of nerve”, “cowardice of consciousness”, “emptiness of
ethical precepts”, or “crisis of leadership”, an entire culture fragments, regresses and
devolves towards its extinction. With notable exceptions aside, America suffers the
diminishing human assets of brave commercial, political, and social adventurers. Most
often, the venture or effort is for personal aggrandizement in the selfishness of personal
satiation. Such actions cut across the variety of human activities.
6

From the artist, to the entrepreneur, to the public official or the writer, egoistic
intentions overwhelm the essence of art and craft for satiated promotion of self. It is all
about the fractured unevolved self-centeredness of private proclivity, as opposed to the
energetic relentlessness of personal transformation. Of extraordinary leaders, as there are
only a few with humble sage intentions, who speak the truth of any matter, have nothing
but growth and maturity to gain, their sub-species has diminished. The rarity of such is a
scarce resource of those willing to assert a self-effacing intellectual ascension.
Modest, quiet, intently focused, yet a small number assert heroic leadership. Of which,
one might witness an example of valor that rises above the mundane, the mystical and the
malevolent, and demonstrates the sanctity of sacrificial heroism. For the persistence of
self-evolution, regardless of what anyone else thinks, does or wants, it is a
transformational ascent for the liberation and freedom of individuality.
Instead, the broad base of communal collectivity transgresses into anti-intellectual
schemes of infantile thinking, unscientific fallacies of specious conjecture, and reinforced
by supernatural and extraterrestrial self-gratifications. Recent studies from centers for
disease control, a world health organization, and others, cite significant levels of
“psychological dysfunction” throughout mainstream American society. Most everyone,
according to the pseudosciences of psychiatry and psychology, experiences some form of
“mental” problem over the course of their lifetime.
While those are opinions, based on theoretical viewpoints, which do not equate with
scientific certainty, one might argue in a contrary sense against the fallacies of the
conjecture. However, since the influence of the “psycho-medico-pharmaceutical
industrial complex” is so persuasive throughout every aspect of society, it might be
concluded that everyone manifests some kind of thinking problem. With that, the
diversity of “thinking errors” crosses a spectrum of socio-economic strata.
There are those who are evolving positively, and there are those who are not. As such,
the spectral array of potentialities could be unlimited. Unfortunately, the majority are
regressing, which challenges others to remain focused on their transformation. The
results affect every aspect of human interaction, from home life to the workplace, and
represents daunting challenges for the few remaining leaders among us. Thus, leadership
requires an extraordinary ability to become a liberated in enlightened ascendency.
