Group-work assignment:
Objective: to evidence the values and other social-cultural constructs embodied in
a specific type of discourse

1. The group must select a song, no matter the language but either case must be
fully understood by the analysts.
2. The song lyrics must be transcribed and the audio provided preferably in a link in
the same written excerpt.
3. The group will design their own format (flowchart, diagram, subtitled text, etc.)
for the analysis of this sample discourse based on the resources provided in the
VR and on the following queries:
What does the discourse suggest about social constructs?
What is the role and status of the singer and of the potential listener or
addressee?
The analysis must refer both, to specific language items of the song and to the text
as a discursive unit. Such theoretical exercise must not be longer than three pages.
