Theseus and Crete


Aegeus (Aigeus): Father of Theseus, King of Athens, killed himself because he
thought the minotaur killed Theseus, he told Theseus to change the sails to white
from black if he is alive. Aegean Sea named after him, because that is where he
threw himself into.
Troezen (Troizen): Small town controlled by Athens, Theseus grew up
Pittheus: Grandfather of Theseus, got Theseus drunk
Aethra: Pittheus daughter, mother of Theseus. Had sex with Aegeus and Poseidon
on same night (tale)
Theseus: Legendary figure in Athens, killed minotaur
Medea (Medeia): Wife of Jason, Common law wife of Aegeus who tried to kill
Theseus.
Minos: Son of Zeus, king of Crete
Pasiphae: Wife of Minos, sleeps with bull, originally a goddess
Daedalus (Daidalos): Designed the labyrinth
Minotaur: Half bull, Pasiphae son, was born in a legitimate marriage so Minos must
keep and feed him.
labyrinth: Designed by Daedalus for the minotaur, humans are put in for him to eat.
Icarus: Icarus and his father attempt to escape from Crete by means of wings that
his father constructed from feathers and wax. Saves food from what the king gives
to them and keeps out for birds, kills birds, saves candles and makes wings from
feathers and wax. Icarus did not listen to father and flew too close to the sun to
show off in front of classmates. Part of Mediterranean Sea can be called Icarian sea
because he drowned.
Ariadne: Minos and Pasiphae daughter, falls in love with Theseus, helps Theseus kill
the Minotaur, but tells him he has to love her forever and take her with him when he
leaves the island. She falls asleep on Naxos and Theseus accidentally forgets her.
The dog Dionysus falls in love with her and makes her his wife, she becomes one of
few humans to become a goddess.

How does the geography/environment of Greece influence life?

On the ship to Crete, Theseus is talking to someone who says he is Zeus son, the
guy says prove you are the son of Posidien. Throws his ring in the water and
Theseus dives down to get it, all fish singing under the sea
Theseus at wedding and fight off centars, who came because they smelled wine,
Theseus went to the Amazons and carried off the Amazon queen and the Amazons
come to fight. Also carry off Helen of Troy when she is only 12 years old so
Athenians have to die because he cant keep it in his pants then he the kind carries
off the women of the amazon (WTF) then Theseus and someone go into the land of
the dead, then throw three pieces of bread to the three headed dog. And haities
tricks them into coming in but Theseus and perepheas and Hercules saves them.

When he comes back to the living his young wife, fedra, falls in love with his son of
the lady with the amazon, fedra is in love with hilpolitis, then she decides to kill
herself because she knows her step son wont have sex with her. Her maid is al like
okay ima talk to this boy cause you arent eating and the nurse fucks up. Nurse tells
hilpolitis and hes grossed out but makes him promise to not tell anyone. He says
sure. Fedra still kills herself. Blames his son. His son tells him what happened.
Theseus tells posiden to punish his son in a chariot and as his son leaves on the

same road that theseus came in on and the bull drags him to his death. The people
of Athens are pisssed. And drive Theseus from thrown. Then Theseus goes to
skinross but he cant shut up about the time he killed the half bull and king skinross
gets mad and pushes him off of a cliff, obvi dead.
