Programme Overview
The business case for BIM is rapidly taking shape around the themes of productivity and profitability. Many
organisations and projects have now successfully implemented BIM with significant benefits including reduced
conflicts and changes, and reduced construction cost and duration. BIM is predicted to transform the whole project
process from inception, design, and construction through operations and facilities management. Both public and
large private developers are increasingly looking for their consultants to be BIM-enabled because of the value it
brings.
BIM Foundation is the first part of your journey to be BIM ready and make a transition to this new way of working.
The course will provide you with a strong foundation on building your skills in BIM by understanding the
terminology, technology, BIM principles, overview of BIM process, procedures, models, management and
collaboration.
What to Expect?
Lecture: interactive series of presentation supported by in-depth group discussions.
Case Study: allow you to apply the new theory and concepts in real-life context.
Learning Objectives
After this programme, you will be able to:
Explain what is BIM and its benefits in the organisations efficiency and productivity.
Explain concepts of BIM implementation within an architectural, engineering, construction, and drafting office
environment.
Describe the importance of embedding building design data to produce effective model.
Anyone who wants to know what BIM is all about, its capability and the required preparation for adoption
Alice is the VDC Technology and Process Manager at DPR Construction, Asia
Pacific. Based in Singapore, She brings 5 years of healthcare and VDC experience
from working on large acute care hospital projects in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Alice has first-hand experience implementing BIM to Field and collaborative design
review processes. As an efficiency enthusiast, her passions align with DPRs
offerings in the APAC region: applying the newest collaborative techniques,
innovative technologies, and construction methods to technically-challenging
projects.
Alice was part of the DPR team who built the world class, $1.5B USD, 878,000 sq.-ft. ground-up hospital complex,
University of California, San Francisco Medical Center at Mission Bay, where the cost of construction was reduced
by 20% through VDC methods. The project team was able to absorb $50M USD worth of reprogramming and owner
driven design changes with the use of BIM, Lean principles, and collaborative processes while still delivering the
project 8 days ahead of schedule from the date set 4 years prior. On this project, Alice led BIM coordination and
managed construction of the major imaging spaces redesign, as well as provide BIM support for the rest of the
project team. She implemented the use of field technologies to increase the efficiency of the field and to increase
access, value, and use of the 3D model.
With a craving for challenge and a commitment to advancing the construction industry, Alice draws from her
extensive healthcare, technical building background and experience leading the Bay Area Skunkworks team to add
value to any project team.
