We are proud of you for auditioning and are here to support you along the way!
Dear Parents,
Hooray! Your student has chosen
Seussical
to audition for the travelling Musical,
While this is sure to be a rewarding experience, it does require time and effort
on all our parts.
Therefore, we wanted to communicate some things to you:
This production and its rehearsal will run through both semesters. Please make
sure you and your student understand the time commitment involved in a
4-month run. (No rehearsals will occur over breaks!)
A rehearsal calendar will be sent home and is also available on Mrs. Scheidts
webpage: lmstheatreco.weebly.com
There is a contract that you and your child must sign. Please read it carefully. The
biggest concern is making sure that all cast members are at practices when they
should be and have transportation home via the bus or parent pick-up and that
students maintain passing grades and good Citizenship standing.
Help is always needed. If you have any way of helping: ticket sales, painting,
costumes, set and props creation (or finding), publicity, etc. that help is needed!
We know the kids love when their parents help and support their activities and
drama parents are great at this! We will send home HELP lists but if you have ideas,
they are welcome.
This show will be a traveling tour to the younger students of our districts.
Students will miss some school for the tour, but no more than 2 days. There will
also be an evening family show at LMS in March. We will need the cast and crew a lot
that week. No late bus will be available.
While we always make great, fun memories, our job is to show what great things
our students can do and entertain the audience. We will push and challenge these
students to be their best. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions
about that, we are always ready to talk! Feel free to contact us about anything!
-Thank you for letting us work with your kiddos this year!
Conflicts: Practice will be held Tuess & Thurss from 3:10-4:25pm starting DECEMBER 1st and running
through MARCH 9th. While you will not always need to be at practice, please list any conflicts that might
affect your attendance. Be specific, please!
Parents,
Read the following statement, and please sign below if you agree.
Yes, I understand that my child is auditioning for the school play; plays take time and effort, and this will
require that he or she attend all needed rehearsals and performances. I will pick up my child in a timely
manner. I understand my child may need items for costumes (hosiery & shoes) that he or she will need to
provide. My child must be in good standing at school with no current Fs and no Is or Us on their current
Citizenship grades nor any discipline referrals. Any issues will result in the inability to practice or
perform.

Monologue Option #1: When I moved here in the third grade the first person I met was
Andrew Conley. He was obsessed with Star Trek. We used to argue for hours about
whether the aliens were real or not. I mean, even in the third grade I knew it was only
television. And it was repeats! I told him it happened years ago anyway so even if it was
real it didn't matter because all those aliens must be dead by now. And he'd say, you've
got brains, but you don't know everything. Then one daymaybe in the seventh
gradeAndrew was sent home because he wouldn't take off his hat. He said he was
growing antennae and he didn't want the teacher to see. He said she wouldn't
understand. So the next day he came to school and I said, where are the
antennae? Huh? And he said they're there. But now they're invisible. And I said, well, I
should be able to feel them, right? Maybe they're invisible, but I should be able to feel
them... So he took my hand. And he put it over his head. And there was something
there. I have to remember that. I have to remember that every day. Something can be
invisible but that doesn't mean it isn't there. I used to think uncertainty was the worst
thing in the world. Now I think it's what keeps us looking up instead of away.
Monologue Option #2:
Wow, I can't even believe it - my last picture day in middle school! My mother says you
take the best pictures of all the school photographers. The one you took of me in first
grade's my favorite - I had on my blue flowered dress with the little heart buttons. Her
favorite's the one you took of me last year. I just wish I didn't wear yellow! My mother
thinks it's my color, but she's totally wrong. I wanted to come to picture re-take day but
she wouldn't let me. As you can see, I'm not wearing yellow. But I'm not having the best
hair day. Up or down - I couldn't decide. I should have had it cut. In homeroom my friend
Ratani said I should wear it up, and in health Grant said definitely down, and in math
Rocky said part up, part down, and, well, you can see how it all turned out. Okay, I
guess I'm ready. (Poses)
Wait! I'm not! This is hard - I mean, coming up with the right expression for my last
picture in middle school ever. (Poses)
How was that? Okay, well, I'll see you next year! What? You don't do the high school
pictures?
I guess this is goodbye then...
Unless my hair looks horrible - then I'll see you make up day - no matter what! Okay,
well...bye!
