ENERGY SOURCES 9/1 - 9/30

1. Describe where and how the

electricity that reaches your
home is produced. The way the electricity
flow from the plant to your house is as follows. Energy is
created using large generators involving thousands of
copper wires and a metal ball (magnetic). The energy is
created by the gravitational movement/energy given off
by the ball. The wires will then collect the energy and
from there will then distribute it. Insulated copper wires
are some of the main sources the lead to the transformer
on and electrical pole. These wires will then feed into the
transformer and branch out to houses, supplying them
with energy

2. Describe and identify

inefficient use of energy and
power at home, school, or work
the inefficient ways of energy and power around the
house is like not using a wheelbarrow for picking up
rocks, pushing a car instead of towing, and moving
furniture without any dolly or sliders. Some at school and
work are taking the stairs instead of the elevator, writing
a report instead of writing it, and riding a bike to
work/school instead of a car

3. What is the relationship

between resistance, current, and
voltage within an electrical
system?
The relationship between all of these components of a
circuit is that one will check the other (checks and

balances if you must) if the resistance is too high on a

circuit is too high, the circuit wont turn on. If the current
is too high, you can raise the resistance to stabilize the
current. If the voltage if too low then you lower the
resistance

4. Explain the distinguishing

characteristics between series
and parallel circuits . A series circuit is a
constant flow of motion. I series circuit can be compared
to a chain, if one piece breaks, then the whole system
wont. While in a parallel the flow of energy has more
than one path to flow

5. Describe how to calculate the

efficiency of an electrical
mechanical system. The way that you
solve for finding the efficiency of a system is by finding
the values for the work that is required to complete the
action of the system and the work after the action is
finished. Once you find these two values you put the
work in over the work out and multiply by one hundred

6. What are the different energy

sources that are used to deliver
energy to your community?
Depending on where you live by the sources of energy
vary. Some houses are fueled by generators or solar
power, others might be by solar or hydraulic energy
