Racism: Police force vs. Color minority communities

Abstract:
Racism now in our society has gone out of control. There are shootings that cannot be
justified between homicide and act of law enforcements obligation. It can be hard being involved
in a community where there is a police force vs. color minority. It can be hard now that the kids
of today society are sponges and learn everything and interpret what they see like shooting a
deadly weapon, protesting, and harming people. But overall who is to blame for this outbreak
between the police force and minority relations?

Racism: Police force vs. Color minority communities

For a while now the US has been going through a crisis between police and minority
communities. It has been hard to put down the remote or the newspaper because it seems like
everyday something new happens between the cops and the civilians. From one incident like the
Michael Brown shooting, to civilians killing police officers around the US. This crisiss has
caused many problems from kids being hurt during a protest rant, to families being targeted,
houses being used to store guns and being feared for life. There are so many questions that need
to be answered about this situation like, how can we prevent more shootings? How can we make
sure it is justified as a shooting rather than homicide? How can we show the youth that this isnt
a way of life? How can we provide better living and communities for the minorities?
The genres present resources for the audience so that they will get a better understanding
between police and minority communities. The article (typography) and the video (Iconography)
will be structured to help demonstrate credibly for the reader to believe and understand. The
article being used for the research is, what the state relations between the police is and the
communities of color the article features a former New York police officer, the president of the
NAACP and the former mayor of New York that provide real evidence of police vs. minority
relations. The video I am going to use for my research is, former NYPD officers talk policeminority relations. They help have a voice for all people across the world about the anger
towards all the police-minority relations going on as of right now.
The purpose of this research and the genres chosen for this research is to inform the
reader about a real world crisis purpose that is happening in front of our eyes. The structure of
the video and article are told in a way that the reader can tell they are formal and informative. An

example from the article is, listen, I have had instances, just in this past year, where I have had a
grandmother call a NAACP office with her young grandson that she takes care of at 14 years old,
and that a local gang is making him keep guns in her house.
She does not feel comfortable calling the police department, because she doesnt trust them. And
shes also afraid of the gangs that are in the street. What kind of predicament does that put her in
to be able to not only save her grandson, but also protect her life?(PBS NewsHour. 2015) that
quote from the article provides a real life scenario that can be creditable to the research.
Everyone is aware about all of this police and minority relations but the directed audience is for
those wanting a better understanding, not to be afraid of police men/women, and to understand
that everyone is equal. Based on the language and vocabulary during the video and article, it is
bound to make a person speak up and give an opinion here and there, like an example from the
video is, Its mostly frustration, you know? And people are taking their frustrations out. And I
blame I blame the administrations. The police officers are just doing what they have been
taught to do, which is enforce the laws of their respective city, state, or local government(PBS
NewsHour. 2015). Based off the quote it is bond to have a flood of opinions. Therefore, the genre
should touch bases with racism, not only racism but racism between colored communities and
the police force around the US and country.
The information given in the article and video help shape the dynamic of freedom of
space, time, and audience because it gives information that can be portrayed to real life events.
The genres go in a organized way, from stating a question like what does it mean by black lives
matter to life scenario situations of other people to personal information from the interviewee,
and to a final outcome and problem solver to racism against colored minority communities and

the police force. The differences between both genre is that, the article talks more about how
minority and police relations take effect on families and the youth now, while the video talks
more about obeying the police and how every police man/woman are not racist.
Finally, both genres were great at conveying the message of racism, the article was more
effective at getting the point across about racism. It gave structure about our society and how we
can correct racism for the youth of our world. They are the ones that matter the most now when it
comes to racism, education, technology and much more. They are the builders of our nation as
we grow in the US. We must stop all this racism and just be one, that way we can stop the
violence and hate, and let the youth know that we are all equal in race, gender, religion and much
more.
