Stage 1- DESIRED RESULTS


Standard Goals (from DepEds 2010 Secondary Curriculum Year)
The Learner demonstrates literary and communicative competence through
his/her understanding of the different genres of Philippine Literature and
other text types for the deeper appreciation of Philippine Culture and those
of other countries.
First Quarter:
A. The learner demonstrate understanding of the distinct features,
aesthetic elements and underlying objectives of varied types of Asian
and African narratives using the most appropriate language forms and
functions.
B. The learner writes and tells a story creatively and proficiently.
C. The learner depicts the importance of using appropriate language
structure with their meanings in demonstrating his/her understanding
and appreciation of narratives (Sentence Agreement, Punctuation and
Capitalization).
Transfer
The Learners will demonstrate understanding and appreciation in the
different grammatical structures, and students will identify sentences
according to structure. They will familiarize and use the conjunctions in
combining independent and dependent clauses.

Direction: Pass the stuff toy (Angry Bird) while singing
London Bridge/ My Fair Lady). After singing the
aforementioned nursery rhyme, the person who holds the
stuff toy will pick something in the box that contains the
subject for the sentence and he will form a complete
sentence in the board.

Simple sentence consists of a subject and a
predicate.
Compound sentence composed of two or more
independent clauses and connected by coordinating
conjunctions. Conjunctions are connectives that link
the clauses.
Complex sentence contains independent clauses
and at least a dependent clause which are connected
by subordinate conjunction. Independent clauses
are group of words that can stand alone because it
expresses a whole thought or idea while dependent
clauses are words that cannot stand alone as a
sentence because it expresses lack of meaning.
