OCTOBER IS THE MONTH OF

THE ROSARY.
Honor our Blessed Mother by
daily recitation of The Rosary.
PUBLIC SQUARE ROSARY
The Public Square Rosary will be recited at the following locations on
Saturday, October 15th at 12Noon:
St. Damiens Parish Park, Monongahela, PA
Mary, Mother of the Church, Charleroi, PA, parking lot
Monessen City Park (lower level), Monessen, PA
Anointing of the Sick
The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is for those among us who are sick and
infirmed, those who are elderly may be anointed if they are in weak condition even
though no dangerous illness is present and sick children may be anointed if they
have sufficient use of reason to be comforted by the sacrament. No longer should
we think of the Anointing of the Sick as simply Last Rites. The sacrament in fact
is for the living. The Anointing of the Sick is the Churchs provision for spiritual and corporal
remedy. The Sacrament removes all sins and punishment for sin even if a person is unconscious,
however the person must be alive for the sacrament to take effect. We will celebrate a communal
rite of the Anointing of the Sick at all Masses on the weekend of October 22nd & 23rd. Please
call the Parish Office if you plan to be anointed and let us know which Mass you will be attending.. Homebound who are unable to attend the communal service, but would like to be anointed,
are invited to call the Parish Office to make an appointment for Fr. Bill to make a visit.

donate soup items (noodles, vegetables, meat, broth, etc.) The St. Damien Soup

Reflections
by Deacon Al
Thank You Jesus! How often do
we say these words? More than
likely, most of us, not enough
As in todays Gospel, we hear that ten were
cleansed but only one returned, humbling himself to give Glory to God and Thank Jesus,
but what happened to the other nine?
Funny, this is a subject we spoke about Giving
Thanks with the confirmation class last week
along with praying together as a family. Most of
the students admit to praying before meals at
home but said its awkward to pray in public so
they dont when having dinner out. Giving
thanks privately but not publicly, does something seem wrong in that scenario to you?
I praised them for praying as a family, but when
I dug a little deeper with my next question what about after the meal, no hands went up?
My thoughts: Do we thank God for the hands
that prepared the food, worked to purchase the
food, or even the people who planted, harvested
or raised the animals for what we had just received? And the issue with praying in public,
would it not be good that through our actions we
could remind someone that they too needed to
talk with or give thanks to God for their blessings as well?

FAMILY NIGHT
Tuesday, October 11th ~ 6:30-8:00pm
Old fashioned Halloween Party with fun for
everyone. All are welcome. If youd like to
know more about the school,
this is a good place to start.

I think this is what the readings are teaching us

through the Church about faith these past few
weeks. The Apostles last week begged Jesus Increase our faith This week were clearly
given an example of faith, but does the Lord
have to question us about our thankfulness when
its given?

Im here today because of Trust, Faith and Love

forgive me for the times I have failed to say
Thank You!
