RECOMMENDATION
Ratify appointments to the Harrison Memorial Library Board of Trustees, Community Activities and Cultural
Commission, Forest and Beach Commission, Historic Resources Board, and Planning Commission.
BACKGROUND / SUMMARY
City Boards and Commissions perform a valuable service to the City by providing means by which the City
Council can obtain advice, opinions, and recommendations of City residents and other members of the
community. For this cycle of appointments, or reappointments, the City Council has been presented with a total
of seven scheduled Board and Commission vacancies with terms ending September 30, 2016.
Mayor Dallas and Vice Mayor Theis interviewed applicants for board and commission vacancies Wednesday,
September 14, 2016. All applicants demonstrated a strong commitment to service and a desire to serve the
Carmel-by-the-Sea community. The ad hoc committee was appreciative of all community members of diverse
backgrounds and exceptional skill sets, who filled out an application and participated in the interview process.
After much deliberation the ad hoc committee has identified the following individuals as qualified and ideal
candidates to fill the vacancies and is recommending the appointment of the following candidates to Boards
and Commissions:
- William Godwin, Harrison Memorial Library Board of Trustees
- Niels Reimers, Harrison Memorial Library Board of Trustees
- Donna Jett, Community Activities and Cultural Commission
- Bonnie Folster, Community Activities and Cultural Commission
- Mo Massoudi, Forest and Beach Commission
- Thomas Hood, Historic Resources Board
- Julie Wendt, Planning Commission
