My Reflection

Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn. It is my

favorite quotation since I entered the world of teaching from Benjamin Franklin. And my
experience in FS six just involved me a lot in the field of teaching. Learning a teacher as
person in the community to the global world is just a great opportunity and as a preservice teacher. I am blessed and so thankful.
During my first to the third episodes in this portfolio, I learned a lot because I realized
that a teacher will not be a professional considering his personal qualities first.
Possessing all the positive attributes will also aid a teacher to promote an effective
learning to the students. In addition, a teacher will not be ready in his field if he has
some problems regarding in his community especially in his family. However, as a
teacher, he must conquer his problems and make ways to have a solution on it. If he
doesnt have solutions, just forget the problem instead. Its just my point, if the teacher
must be buoyant inside the classroom, he must be also outside of the school.
Knowing my philosophy of education gave me happiness because it is a thought that I
will never know without this portfolio. It is just easy to say that I am a perennialist,
essentialist or behaviorist. However, I will not really know because I have no proof and
looking at my way of teaching, I am not that progressivist type of teacher because I
want to be a constructivist one. Since I am a progressivist teacher, I think I need to
integrate that philosophy because if I focus on it, Ill attain more what I need to achieve
about effective teaching and learning.
Honestly, I want to be a global teacher. Ill focus on the literal meaning about a teacher
who teaches abroad. I really want to be one because of the experience. But realizing
the needs of teachers in our country, I cant really decide. But since the Government of
the Philippines gave me scholarship and education, I decided to teach here in the
Philippines. This country gave me more than education thats why I realized that I need
to teach here. I am going to be unfair if I will not do that. Its an endeavor for me to
teach here and I am excited too. Now, Ill focus on the general meaning of a global
teacher. Even if you are teaching in the four corners of your room. You can be one of
them. Because the true meaning of a global teacher doesnt mean that youre teaching
outside of our country but being able to possess the competencies in the NCBTS and
attending trainings and seminars about how to be competent teacher.

My Future Application
Preparing four years to be a successful teacher is such a great time and opportunity to
be introduced in the field of teaching.
Experiencing this portfolio gave me an eye opener on the field of teaching. Realizing
that some teachers are really busy and dont want to be disturbed and not entertaining
students who practice teaching and want to be like them. Will I be like them? No.
maybe Ill explain my work when Im busy in a good way and know what students need
first. I really had a bad experience during some of my interviews because some
teachers rejected already before I ask. However, I am thankful to those accepted me
and encourage me more to love teaching.
Ill be a teacher that possesses all the positive attributes of being a teacher. Its just
easy to say but I know that I can do it if I set my mind into it. Ill know the needs of my
learners and my community to know how can I help them. I also want to be active in
seminars, trainings and workshop to improve how I teach.
I am overjoyed to be a teacher and I have no regrets to make this as my passion.
Theres a saying that, Teachers who love teachingteach children who love learning. It
is an opportunity for me not a coincidence and because of this, Ill live my life to the
fullest.
