MIDWIVES PRAYER

Dearest Lord, May I see You today and every day in the person of the sick as
I am nursing them for you.Though You have hidden yourself behind the
unattractive disguise to the irritable, the exacting and the reasonable, may I
still recognize You and say:Jesus my patient it is with great pleasure to
serve You.Lord, give me that seeing faith that my work will never become
monotonous but be full of compassion and be willing to give. Grant that the
mothers you placed in my care maybe abundantly blessed. Give me both
wisdom and sympathy, kindness and understanding in my daily work.
Inspire me with words of comfort and strength, and let me encourage all
mothers in their great hour, guide my mind and my hands, good Jesus, that I
may help them all and be able to lift at least a part of their burden of
suffering. Dearest Lord, make me appreciate the dignity of my high vocation
and its many responsibilities, never permit me to disgrace it by giving way to
coldness, unkindness or impatience. Lord, increase my faith, bless my
efforts, sanctify my work now and forever. Amen.
